It has been reported in the local press that three houses in the Pollensa area will be demolished after the Council of Mallorca ruled them illegal. Two of them are in Síller, on "rustic" land and have swimming-pools, it seems pools are not allowed on "rustic" land.
The houses seem to be mainly for holiday rent, and apparently there are about a thousand such properties in Pollensa, which have not been licensed by the tourism ministry. Owners of illegal properties face having them demolished and also being fine of up to 125,000 euros.

Sparky, may I ask where you read this article because your sentance that states "it seems pools are not allowed on rustic land", I would suggest, does not appear to be correct, there are a lot of other issues that are being taken into account if the town hall have said this i.e. a pool being built on the land of an existing house that does not conform to the present minimum building requirement of 14.000m2 in rustic areas or a new house with pool being constructed on land of lesser meterage than the required 14.000m2. These are but to name a few, the list is very long but the statement that pools are not allowed on rustic land is incorrect and would scare the pants off owners who have legally built pools and houses on their land. Siller is divided into both rustic and Urban land and clearly defined on plans that are available from the town building department.
