It can be difficult to get a telefonica landline to have a broadband connection especially if you live in the country.
I have tried Vodafone mobile broadband, which was expensive and often
didn't work at all.
A friend with a nearby Bread and Breakfast finca recommended the
company Freefil (Internet de Banda Ancha + Telefonía fija donde otros no llegan.) . They
don't speak English but I was helped by a freelance agent (English
born) to sign up. The have a wireless connection called WiMax and you
are always connected.
I took the lowest speed 768 Kbps/384 Kbps at 29€ / month + iva and
also a VoIP linksys adaptor for 78€ (can also be rented) to which I
connected an ordinary telephone.
For 7.50€ / month + iva I get 180 minutes per month free calls to
Europe plus a regular telephone number. The installation was 298€ +
iva.
The system, with a small antenna on the outside wall, was installed
within a week!
Initially there was a small problem with the telephone number, which
was quickly fixed.
It functions beautifully and I haven't really noticed that the
telephone takes a bit of the bandwidth.
