Couldn't wait for August to come back our again (4 weeks *sighs*), so was looking for 4 or 5 days at the end of April and managed to get 2 flights with Ryanair to PMI from our local airport for the princely sum of ...

4p

That's it..no taxes or charges (booked with Electron)

Can anyone beat that guys?...

:):):)

Well done, like Pollensa, watch out for the return sector because we, like Pollensa have had our Ryannair "cheapies" cancelled and re-booked for different dates whilst we were away.

Actually the flights were cancelled due to the snow as was every flight to Stansted that day so it really wasn't a ryanair issue & in fact, so far, we have not had any flights cancelled by either Ryanair or Easyjet for other reasons.

Famous last words as I've just booked 2 more trips & paid the CC charges.

Our problem was "technical" and we wouldn't have known about it if we hadn't phoned the airport a couple of days before the departure. Taught us a good lesson not to rely on an airline contacting you if there are changes !

... well that's wiped my smile away folks... I'll keep my nerves to myself until the best/worst happens I guess...

... as I'm now down near Worcester my local airport is Birmingham Graham!

... and I too have my Electron with Halifax..

... quick question, if an airline cancels, how can we be liable of the resultant charges? ...

Hi Everyone

I thought I had really good deal from Ryanair for April too! We're flying from Liverpool and it has cost us just over £200 for four of us. My bargain looks rubbish compared with the ones mentioned on this thread!

I used my newly acquired Electron to pay. I got mine from the co-op bank. It was very quick and simple to obtain and we didn't have to pretend that we were actually going to use the co-op as our proper bank. I'm just about to book some more flights for the Summer and will be using my Electron card to pay. I wouldn't normally have wanted to bother with the hassle of trying to get another piece of plastic but the credit/debit charges are so huge that I finally gave in.

Hannah, you have got a great deal! It doesn't really matter if something turns up even cheaper. £50 per person return! Most people on the forum and the travel pundits were forecasting the end of cheap flights to Palma only a few months ago. Well done and enjoy yourself.

Thanks Ryansclan - you're right!
I'm just searching for a bargain for August now. Ryanair looks ok but Jet2 seem to have some very decent prices at the moment too. I'm just not sure whether to book now or wait and see if the prices go down nearer the time. Wish I had a crystal ball!

The only thing to be wary of using Electron is that I THINK that you will not be covered if the company goes bust as you would do if using a Credit Card. But then this only covers you if you spend over £100. Using Electron is like using cash.

So basically you have to decide between saving the handling fees & getting the consumer protection i.e. is the protection worth it for £9 per flight.
