Live music events in Puerto Pollensa in 2023

  • Thread starter Thread starter Lorenzo
  • Start date Start date
There's a concert which is open to the public this Friday 22nd September 2023, from 7pm till 8.30pm at the air base in Puerto Pollensa.
You need to take your ID with you to get in (DNI/passport).
The orchestra will be playing favourite tracks from various well known films, like West Side story etc

Any confirmed sightings of guitarist Mariano Miranda on Wednesdays at Hotel Uyal., or elsewhere? Can't visit without seeing him. Thanks.

Sadly, La Roca beach bar has just announced that due to a complaint from a neighbour, the Saturday afternoon live music by The Hustlers, will no longer be allowed..
This is very upsetting news as live music is often a focus for people on holiday in Puerto Pollensa. It's also the livelihood for the musicians.

Great shame. We have just arrived back home having enjoyed the music there during this and previous trips. This problem arose some years back.
Whilst we were there we enjoyed the music at Embat beach bar, Uyal and Pollentia hotels. The last two being much later in the evening than that at La Roca. No complaints there?

Out again next May and am tempted to bring my Buskers/one man band kit.
Any volunteers?

This is really sad. How can some live music on a Saturday afternoon (post siesta) offend anyone. La Roca and it's music bring some energy to the Llenaire end of town. Without it the local bars and restaurants will lose out to those closer to the centre. What next? Ban the Pina, Pina, Melon man for shouting too loudly?? PP has bigger problems, perhaps spend some time on sorting out the sewage and water quality problems around the Marina??

A friend of mine who lives in the Port, and used to attend on a regular basis, has toldg me that apparently, the instigator of the cessation of the live music sessions, is a local Mallorquin resident.

He didn’t want to go into the possible motives, but sufffice to say that he is a member of the population who doesn’t earn a direct living, of which there are many, from tourists, tourism or foreign residents/property owners.

Short sighted maybe, but that’s the way many locals think.

The loss of the jam sessions at Hostal Borras and Nostalgia are, as far as I am concerned, a great shame as well.

Our rental car has decent stereo system. I'm tempted to sit outside his apartment in Saturday and entertain him with some dub reggae. PP had a great music scene, sadly no more.

I always sit on the beach under the trees and the music at La Roca has just been a regular event all summer. It will be very strange without it.

(Live) Dance music and suitable dance floors seems to have been eradicated in PP as well, according to that letter published in the MDB - https://www.majorcadailybulletin.co...5/117339/pollensa-dancing-hotels-cutback.html

Gone are the days when you could take to the dance floor
...

My wife and I have been coming to Puerto Pollensa for more than twenty years. Until five or six years ago, PP had a lively night life, with music and space for dancing at several locations. It was always possible to find somewhere to dance. ...
...
One hotel, which had a beautiful forecourt ideal for dancing, covered it with decking, tables and unuseable recliners. Another went in for curtained day beds ...

...

Please can one hotel take the initiative, to restore a suitable space for dancing and book an entertainer who know what dancers need? A single competent vocalist with a variety of backing tracks will do. All dancers require is a reasonable flat space without obstructions and a group with a suitable repertoire. ...

[Still recall the old Tango location just off the square, a good while ago now. Looking in through the windows, whilst sitting outside, with the dance floor inside always occupied]

Dancing

Yes, good times all those years ago when we went to Tango for Dinner, and a dance to the music of Armonia. Still have their tapes at home.

What we didn't realise then is that Mike Dublin was peeping in through the windows at our attempts to slow dance!! (Ha. Ha)

Great days indeed.

There will be some live music on Sunday lunchtime (15th Oct 2023) at El Casinet Restaurant from midday to 2.30pm. Not sure who will be singing or playing.....;)

After more than ten years the renowned Palms Bar live music has had to stop due to a complaint from a neighbour..

We were contacted this evening to let us now that tonight's performance of Let it Beatles was cancelled. This is sad news for both bars and performers in losing their livelihoods and also for holiday makers who visit because of the wide variety of entertainment available.

Only the other week the well reknowned La Roca Beach Bar's music on a Saturday afternoon, featuring local band the Hustlers, was stopped after a single complaint!
A petition to support Live Music has so far raised over 1000 signatures! Have a look at their Facebook page to find the link to sign it.
The Local Authority need to get licencing of Live Music in cafes and bars sorted out quickly else holiday makers will go elsewhere.

That is quite a shocker, I have to say. Having stayed quite a few times over the years quite close to the Palms Bar and attended the odd very entertaining music night there as well, I really can't see many grounds for a noise complaint, if they haven't just ramped up the volume in recent times.
Not exactly an all night venue either.

It's a holiday resort foremost and during the season from Easter to mid-term, evening (live) music surely must be allowed.
I'd say plenty of generations of guests in the Pollensa Park Hotel enjoyed the live music nights as their free evening entertainment on the balcony.

It was always part of the holiday vibe to venture along Carrer del Bot and catch some of the performances outside the Hotel Panorama or the Golden Lion and check out the schedule in Palms.

Next thing they'll hand out headsets at the live music events.
Or they complain about the outdoor seating

This has been posted on FB.
Paola made the difficult decision to cancel the music for a short period of time which may now be until they close for the season.
The police have not shut Palm’s down and in fact have been extremely polite about everything.
The decision was made as they could not produce paper work that was required by the police.
The relevant paper work has now been provided.
As Paola weren’t sure how quickly this would be rectified, she took the difficult suspended the shows.

Today, 31st October 2023, Guillermo and The Hustlers will be playing at O'Malley's Irish Bar in Pto Alcudia from about 9pm ish

Guillermo Segui will be playing at Osteria no15 restaurant this evening (3rd Nov 2023)

Derek Holt & friends will be playing at Store Formentor on Sunday 5th Nov 2023 . Derek says that this will be the last gig at Store Formentor for this season.
