Hello to everyone on this very hot sunday afternoon. Just to remind everyone who is registered as a permanent resident here you should check that you are on the electoral listing and of course exercise your right to vote in the local elections in a couple of weeks time. You can only vote in the local town council elections but that is the most important one. It affects what happens here where you choose to live and in the last elections the foreign vote really did make a difference in several municipal districts across the Island. As if by magic, many of the local politicians can now speak english so go and have a chat with them to find out what they have to offer your home town. . . . . voting cards should be arriving in the post any day now.
Also, thanks to Claudio for the fantastic spread she put on after inviting one of the local political groups to use Maxims for a conference in English which was fairly well attended and many valuable questions were put to the current Mayor who would like to be re-elected.. . . . Its a good way to meet these young people and see if they share your ideas for the future. . . . more events planned in next 2 weeks I understand.
