I had to check back a little to see if this has previously been mentioned, but apparently not. Both Suzy Atkins In The Sunday Telegraph in early April, and David Williams in the Observer a couple of weeks back, have enthusiastically reviewed the Macia Batle Anada Red, which is now apparently available from Marks & Spencer at £9.99 a bottle.

I have yet to see it in our local branch, but I imagine this is still very good news to some of you out there. Personally, I'm not sure it warrants the price tag, when M & S also offer, amongst others, the superb Nos Riqueza Ribera del Duero for the same price.

However, it's not Spanish, it's Mallorcan and it's over here! Let's just hope it's supported by enough people to perhaps encourage a few other UK Retail outlets to offer some Mallorcan Wines.

Pinewalker - the price is actually very good. When you take into account the exchange rate/shipping/excise duty (now at over £1.80 a bottle)/ retailer mark up and VAT you quickly rack up the cost.

I actually looked at stocking this but with the trade discount that I was offered by the importer I would have had to put it on the shelf at around £12.99:eek:

You're not far wrong there, Noel Young Wines of Cambridge
have the Macia Batle Crianza Mallorca 2007 in stock at £14.50, but Hedley Wright Wine Merchants, from Hitchin, (I think they used to based in Bishops Stortford) are offering both the Macia Batle Tinto 2008, and the Rosado 2009 at £9.99, although the Blanc de Blancs 2009 is listed at £12.95.

I also think Hedley Wright stock perhaps one of the best selections of Spanish wines in the UK, many from small independent suppliers.

However, as I said earlier, at least some Mallorcan wine is now available in the UK, and long may that continue.

I got a bottle at Palma duty free, last night, for 6euros :)

Yes Pinewalker - Headley wright are the importer for Macia Batle.

Hopefully when the economic situation improves over here and we can get some funding out of the banks we will look to start shipping a selection of different Mallorcan wines.

A good excuse to visit more often, me thinks:D

Gommar Goffer,
we are at present looking to fund the shipping of Majorcan products to the UK so perhaps we could assist each other.

highbury wines stock at £9.40 per bottle

Macia Batle, Santa Maria del Cami @ M&S for £9.99. Just bought 2 bottles, one for tomorrow to celebrate National day. Medium bodied red, vegetarian, tastes fantastic and ideal for spicy food, hopefully available at you local M&S too! Enjoy it if you can get it :)

We found it a month ago in our M & S.

YumYum!! :D

10 nicker a bottle in London.

Macia Batle in a Rainy Lake District

Visited Slaters by the River at Skelwith Bridge this morning. Search 'Slaters by the River'

There was a limited selection of red wine on offer, two of which were Macia Batle. A Reserva Privada 2009 and a smaller quantity of Reserva 2010.

The 2009 sported a very bright modern (v.loud!) multicoloured label whilst the 2010 was labelled rather more conventionally.

I'll leave a gap now for you to take in this information and reminisce on bottles drunk as the sun sets over Pollensa bay etc etc ...............

before hitting you with the price......... £24 a bottle  .

Needless to say, we deferred purchase till we are out in PP in a fortnight or so. An alternative purchase of a couple of excellent home made cheese scones went down well - at considerably less expense.:)

Managed to get in M&S metro centre today £10.50 now. First time have managed to find it here.

Aldi have it at €5.99.
ps That's Aldi Palma. Hence the € sign. not a bad price I thought

My M&S has stopped selling it, I hope only temporally!!

Watty - that is less than the export price that I have been offered. I do have all 5 of the Macia Batle wines in stock and also the Sincronia red and white from Mesquida Mora which are organic.

GG. Looks like Aldi got their towels on the beach before us as once again? All down to buying power I suppose.
