Visions of you being led out by you collar and coat tails!!!!

Thanks for the updates everyone. Sorry for the tardy response, but we're enjoying some Spring sunshine in Gran Canaria. Really glad we took a punt now and looking forward to
August...

I popped into Mar Senses Hotel to have a look around too. :)
It looks beautiful inside with many attractive features, furniture and light fittings. The pool sunbeds looked great too as did the lovely swimming pool.
The bar is open to non-residents and looking at the price list, it is very reasonable, with a glass of house wine at 1.90 Euro and a bottle of house wine under 5 Euros. Service standards looked good too as the barman was taking trays of drinks around to people lying on the sunbeds.
Andres the barman was keen to chat and said how happy he was with the refurbishment of the hotel. He'd been working there when it was the Oro Playa Hotel. He also mentioned that the restaurant would be open to non-residents but suggested leaving it about a week or so to try it whilst staff and systems were settling down.
I mentioned that I thought that the bar prices were very good and mentioned about feeling a bit ripped off by the Illa D'Or hotel where we had been charged a wopping 8 euros for a glass of rose cava the day before and he very kindly poured me a complimentary glass of cava! Happy days :D:D:D

ohhhhh do you think I can use the same story when I am over on a couple of weeks? ( yes - as per another thread - I have to wash the chair )

Can anyone tell me what the hotel is like now it has opened?

The Mar Senses Hotel not only looks beautiful it has also been very tastefully decorated inside. The garden areas have been planted nicely too.
There are plenty of new, comfortable sun loungers by the pool. Staff there are very friendly too! :D
A real asset to the port IMHO.

I have not seen it myself but going by the photos and comments posted on FB it seems that a lot of people are very happy with the transformation :D.

Been and had a snout this morning, looks very nice, they have sunbeds too.

Thanks, as I am staying there in August.

In that case, and in my humble opinion, I would try and book a room on the left hand side ( looking from the sea ) overlooking the road and not the pool.

This would mean you would get afternoon and evening sun, and probably quieter as well.

I would like to have a look round when we are out next month with a view to possibly staying there some time, are they happy for people to do that? Don't mind having a drink in the bar whilst we are there if it is open to non-residents!

No problem having a look round, just walk in like you own the place. Be prepared to run though when they see you with a sun bed under each arm.
