Just back from Montelin (our 2nd visit in two years) and there are a number of changes board members need to know about. First Choice has taken over the apartments, so independent booking is no longer possible. The result is that if, like us, you have a flight home at an awkward time, you are thrown out of your apartment at lunch time and left to your own devices until three hours before your flight. In our case we had 14 hours with no accommodation. Promises from the First Choice rep that a room would be made available in Villa Concha across the road were vapour - the offer of a room is for three hours until 6pm. Luggage has to be left in an empty, unlocked, unsupervised room or in the Villa Concha reception with every other holidaymakers'. The result could be chaos; in the event we hired a car and carted our luggae around with us. The second point is that First Choice have now deemed the apartments are big enough for three people - this is simply not true - but we had to pay an underoccupancy supplement. As last year, First Choise are now increasingly using Montelin as a dumping ground for last minute, accomodation named on arrival holidays, with the result that single teens are arriving more and more frequently. We had to ask three Manchester girls to turn down the music blaring over the pool. As a result of the above we'll not be back to Montelin.
There are also changes in Pte Pollensa itself, with strong rumours that McDonald's are planning a restaurant on the Pine Walk of all places, and a Burger King already on the main drag. The march of progress?
