Hello Everyone

I have just returned from a lovely week in Pollensa. The weather as you know was very mixed but it didn't spoil our week. We had my elderly dad with us and our 2 young children so we didn't go anywhere fancy.

It was fairly chilly in the evenings so we decided to have our main meal at lunch time most days.

Here is a brief list of where we went.

Sunday lunch - Pepe's in Llenaire.
We had the MDD which was 14.50 (usually 9.50 i think but more pricey because it was Sunday). Food was ok but service excellent.

Monday - stayed in the villa (which was fantastic) and had a bbq at lunch time and then went out to Alcudia harbour and had a lovely meal out on the Marina. Very good value. I thought that the prices in these restaurants seem slightly lower than those around PP.

Tuesday - we struggled to find somewhere this day. Is Tuesday a popular day for being closed? We ended up at Bar Joker. Cheap, cheerful, basic - nothing exciting but lovely view of course.

Wednesday - It was pouring with rain this day. We headed off to Celler El Moli on the outskirts of Pollensa - I had seen their advert on this website. This is the only reason I am writing my report because I wanted to tell you all how utterly fabulous this restaurant is.

It's like a tardis. Inside it is enormous. Anyway it was absolutely packed and the whole time we were there people were queueing to get in. The MDD was 8 euros!!! The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was brilliant, it was noisy and exciting - full of so many different people, workmen, businessmen, locals and just a hand full of Brits. It was just fabulous.

The tables were already set with a bottle of wine and bottle of water, then came the bread and olives. There were 3 choices for starters and main course and about 8 choices for pudding. Everything was superbly cooked and delicious and the waiter and waitresses were just lovely and helped us understand the very Spanish menu.

Thursday - La Victoria MDD 13.50. Not particularly great. Only 2 choices as usual and unfriendly service. View amazing.

Friday - our last day, back to Celler el Moli for another fabulous experience. menu had changed completely so lots of different things to try - fabulous 8 euros again.
We then drove to PP and sat right by the sea outside the Capri Hotel with more wine and coffee. Absolutely beautiful setting.

Saturday - latish flight home. Cleaners arrived at 9.10am (not impressed) so we went for a drive around the island and ended up at Cala Bona. Had lunch by the waters edge - very, very pretty but food and atmosphere revolting!

I'm sorry I haven't been more detailed with our food but I really just wanted to tell you about Celler el Moli. I can't believe we have never been before.

Can't wait to return in the Spring.

Hannah I couldn't agree more with you about El Moli :) We tend to only go in the winter months as its so cosy and welcoming. I'm convinced they don't need any heating on, the warmth comes from all the bodies...as you say noisy and exciting!!

Superb local food , amazing value in great atmospheric surroundings. Love it :)

Hannah,

Ssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't let everyone into the little secret that a lot of locals have discovered, incredible value for such good food.

If there was a race to decide whether more take away paella's from Celler el Moli are taken than take away pizzas from Piccolo Forno it would be a close run thing !!!!!!

Great report and glad you enjoyed your week.

think I'll have try this little gem next week

I'd ask whre it is but will get my knuckles wrapped for not looking in the AtoZ thread

Bonyslad and Debz - I'm really glad you agree with me abot El Moli. Fabulous place. On the evening of our first visit I couldn't sleep so instead of counting sheep I thought about what I was going to write on this website about my superb lunch (sad I know!).

CD - it's on the outskirts of Pollensa not far from the Roman bridge. There is a map on their advert on this site. If you go the roundabout where the meubles shop is and turn off as if you are going to go to Lluc but take your very first left you will see a huge sign for the restaurant - turn off to the right, park up under the trees on the bridge on the left and then walk up to the next block and it's on the corner.

Oh my goodness I've just re-read my directions - clear as mud!!! Have a look at their advert instead. Hope you find it - it is wonderful.

Have to agree, this is a great place, pure Mallorquin. But as BL says don't tell everyone.;)

Too late, Sparky. Now that I (and lots of others know where it is), I'll be there next year! Sounds just my cup of tea.
