Hi I wonder if anyone can help. We're landing 3rd July and usually get a taxi transfer from Palma. however when we booked last year we decided to hire a car for the two weeks from netto car. We have paid a deposit and had email confirmation but when I contacted today to confirm I got an email bounce back and there website has now gone Default Parallels Plesk Panel Page ... does anyone know if they are still trading under a different name or have they gone bust

Hi Neil, just checked, the website still seems to be up and running, they are just brokers, did you have a company name on the conformation, you could always try contacting them if so?

Thanks for the response, i've found nettocars.com but this was nettocar.net so not sure if same broker. The current one seems to be based in Canary Islands, whereas this one appeared to be Mallorcan based. I have emailed the broker in Canaries with booking reference but nothing back yet, I will persevere.

Update to nettocar

Hi again, thanks for the contact info. I have now been emailing everyother day and phoned from UK. Spoke to someone who said they would get back in a few days, this was last Tuesday.

Does anybody know of any issues with this company, thinking we might be needing a contingency!

We used them a few years ago. They double booked our estate car, provided 2 Ibizas to get us & windsurfer to resort, then estate car turned up a couple of days later, & promptly broke down near Alcudia - at least there was a decent restauraunt to wait in - further replacement had almost bald tyres.

Seemed to be run by husband & wife team, & although they were very friendly & apologetic, operation was run on a shoe string, & we wouldn't use them again.

Just had an email! Advising that due to lack of funding because of crisis with spanish banks they have not been granted loans to purchase new stock so don't have a car after all! Can't believe we have had to wait over three weeks and hoping we will get our deposit back, suggest avoiding if you are looking for car hire in mallorca this year. Now to find an alternative.

In my humble opinion it is better staying clear of 'unknown' or 'cheap' car hire companies.
Better to pay a bit more to get a reliable vehicle and especially one that will get you back to catch your plane home at the end of your hol's in P.P. with no worries.
Otherwise stick to a decent taxi (lots of good ones to choose from on this site) or use the taxi rank by the marina, or even use the good public transport system. Bus to Palma then change for P.P. Or even bus one way and taxi back. Don't risk a cheap/poor hire car!

NETTO CAR - Warning! Scam

Landing in Palma on sat. 28th of july 2012 - booked and payed Eur 675,00 in november 2011 for a 6 pers. car through NETTO CAR. Today 4 days before takeoff .....
Received an email from NETTO CAR today explaining, they will not be able to proceed with the booking, within 2 or 3 weeks we will get our money back!! No contacts, no phonenumbers, nothing!

Hope this will be helpfull to others......and public busses in lovely Mallorca - here we come!
