Yes very useful & for feet! (as well as their original purpose )

When we had our en-suite done in the UK & replaced our bath with a walk-in shower (which is lovely) we did have a bidet put-in because I had no other means of soaking my feet for a pedicure & I use it for hand-washing.

I actually meant replaced. We did have one before so I knew why I'd need it & I would get one again especially for a shower-only room. But that's me...

Anyway, I think based on the comments here that you should only have one if you think YOU will use it. If not don't bother.

I am in the "In" camp, we have bidets both in Mallorca and in the UK and wouldn't buy a place without them - but then it is down to one's personal preference. (We don't actually use them as a wine cooler - that was just to make you smile Belladona)

I am surprised that someone said that the young Spanish don't use them as that is not our experience.

We are having one of our bathrooms replaced in January and have decided not to replace the bidet, take the bath out and have a walk in shower instead.

If you have 2 bathrooms, then having a full shower in one, and a bidet in one, covers all camps.

True, and I personally think I may opt to leave out the one in the ensuite, although there again, its the shared bathroom that could really do with the extra space, or a storage cupboard there instead.

Now this has left me totally confused. We plan to upgrade 2 bathrooms later this year (along with all the tuberias, as we have been told they are all in need of replacement due to 30yrs of salt air). So.. bidets/no bidets???... baths or walk in showers???...

I need a holiday!

Just caught the other day a bit of "A Place in the Sun - Home or away" where the bathroom had a shower, a sink and a bidet. The toilet was the other side of the kitchen!!!

Conjures up some weird images of quests passing between the rooms while dinner is prepared!!!

I'm not personally a fan of walk in showers unless you have a really big area. I am often asked to make 2m x 2m shower rooms wet areas, which often ends up with wet sinks and toilets due to water splashing around!
If you have 2 bathrooms and the present bath is 1,70m then its a good idea to keep at least one and put in a large shower tray and enclosure in the other. This tends to be more hygenic and water tight, and depending on who does a shower "de obra" you would have to make sure that there was a membrane put down to avoid problems with your downstair's neighbours!!

We have just returned from 4 days in PP, we went out to see the completed new bathrooms which Paul at Project fitted for us, both are excellent, first class workmanship and someone I would certainly recommend.
He also does artificial turf and decking which we are going to look into.
If you are thinking about having a new bathroom installed, we would be happy to let you see ours.
