Ah but they don't count, Blue. Presumably, neither do those who get tanked up on an amusing red in a restaurant. For the hoi polloi in the bars it seems like it is another matter entirely. Different class of drunk don't you know old boy!

If my memory is correct I could buy a pint most anywhere for 3 euro wheras Bony charged nearly 4.50. So this years promotion will still not make him "Cheap".I too love Jose and the port needs people like him. I'm sure the little ones make sure their parents take them there so they can get their sweets and lets face it even the parents enjoy the fun.

I think there's a definite split here between those that quite like value for money bars and others who see them as totally naff.

I like value for money but I prefer class. However, if doing a few deals gets more people into PP, therefore putting more money into the economy, it must be a good thing, surely ? It would be a nightmare to see businesses close in PP. We've all seen it in our local towns when the empty shops are then taken over by charity shops.

What we don't want is to go as far as a Magalluf or Alcudia "kiss me quick" part. That would kill PP.

No chance the place will be another Magaluf, but a drunks a drunk, a nuisance is a nuisance, no matter where or what they drink. No problem with someone having a "good drink" and going home happy, but we have to ensure the Square is still a decent place to go to.

My first holiday in PP was in 1982, a lot of places had "Happy Hours" with reduced prices or bogof's, never saw drunks rolling around the streets and still don't now. The irresponsible drinkers (mostly youngsters) don't come here because it is too quiet for them, ie:- no big nightclubs.
What i would really hate to see is this place turned into a nanny state like the UK is. So let Jose do his thing, the other bar owners do theirs and they all get along very well. :D

Spot on Sparks!!

Well said, Sparky! If there were ten Bony's I might be worried but as there is only one and not likely to be another - no problem. And every time I've walked past Bony's it is full of families with children, not groups of youths getting seriously tanked up.

Isn't it great how Jose manages to create the most debated talking points on the forum!!

Good luck to him, you certainly can't criticise the hard work he always puts in, both thinking up new marketing gimmicks and getting the place ready.

Remember the half tables that we sniggered at at first!!:p

He will bounced back from the "downs" of last year.:(

I believe he is readopting his "Don't Cry" phrase he made famous a few years ago, which even appeared it the official Tourist Info brochures about the place.

Shame he wont be open early March when I visit.

Good luck Jose

We went for a long walk today and had lunch in El Ancla, walked back and called into El Posito for a glass of vino.
Jose was there and he has asked me to inform all his customers who use this forum that his new website which will NOT be available until the end of March will be, www.DontcryLove.com

Lol, great, we even get a name check :)

Bony's isn't the problem it is the type of promotion it encourages binge drinking. Why not reduce prices for all drinks? What is wrong with 25% off all drinks.? If you have 3 it is equivalent to 33% off. Would that not get the punters in?

Looks like Jose will be crying all the way to the bank!

Adios

Dave

Long live Bony's !!!!!!

Can't wait for my trip in April to see what he's up to.........

Maybe some of us on the forum could pool our money and set up a British equivalent to give him a run for his money !!!!!!

Cant wait until July and Dave if you dont like it dont go to Bonys or maybe its time you went somewhere else for your hols if the resort is going to go down market for your hols.:)

Gers

I don't mind the odd drink in Bony's its on a great spot, but I would rather pay 25% less for my drink.

You must be a mind reader because we may not make it to PP this year - having a year off to revisit Dordogne and try Nerja.

Adios

Dave

Blackpool I tell you. Blackpool!

All we need is the kissmequick hats and the donkeys and hey presto!

Dave

Think you maybe getting mixed up im not Gers Rangers in my tite refers to Stafford Rangers not the Rangers in scotland.

Gordon
