Just when we all thought that we had learnt how to spot the Repsol scam now there is another one involving the checking of the ICP installation. It works like this -
As you should all be aware every property must now have a isolator fitted to limit the size of the electricity supply (ICP). Once you have had the isolator fitted Endesa send along someone to check and seal the box. My friends received a visit from a man claiming to be from Endesa. He examined their isolator (which by the way is exactly the same as many others in the same block which have already been sealed) and then told them that they needed an additional switch fitted which he could do there and then for them at a discount if they paid him 82 euros in cash. Regretably they fell for it and paid up. The switch he has fitted is completely unneccessary, costs about 20 euros and took 15 minutes to install!
The moral of the story - don´t pay in cash unless you are 100% sure you are not being conned and always get an official receipt on headed paper. We believe this man was from one of the large local electrical contractors and was sent by Endesa but was running his own little scam on the side.

Thank you for the warning Deanscroft and to add to your advice, to reiterate what my landlord told me, they always make an appointment if it is genuine. So never let "cold callers" in the door.
