From today you can only drive at 110 kilometres per hour on the motorway.
This new speed restriction has come into force for Motorways and dual carriageways. Any one caught doing 120 kph will be fined 100 euros.
The reason they say are seen as an "energy saving precaution", due to the increase in the cost of oil due to the unrest in the Middle East and North Africa. It may be that the restriction will only be in place for four months, but could be prolonged depending on the current political turmoil.
