O'Lume, El Posito & C'an Josep

Reading this thread, I noticed a couple of negatives about El Posito - we tried a meal here last year sometime and were disappointed after all the excellent reviews we had read earlier - and thought it was very overpriced for what was served and yes, the chairs were very umcomfortable - IMO it was like an overpriced cafe. Sorry to all the people who love it!;) When comparing it to say Trio which is a 'proper' restaurant with table cloths and everything:D, well it does not come anywhere near! But that was just our experience - maybe an off night, but we didnt go back as there is so much choice. But we are looking forwad to trying O Lume for the first time in October:)

Hi Rosie

I do recommend trying El Posito again but try the MDD at lunchtime, packed with locals, very rushed but excellent food for the price.

We had a fantastic evening meal at C'an Josep last week - served by 'Mr Fantastic' :)

The fish was excellent and the puddings were huge. Josep, his wife and staff were brilliant with the children. My 8 year old loves the milkshakes and looking at what was left, my 2 year old really rates the spagetti bollagnase!

We have also twice had breakfast there so far (it's very handy if you're early for the Formentor Ferry). A cooked English breakfast and drink is 4.95 Euro and they happily let my 3 children share one breakfast between them and brought out some spare plates so it worked out as very good value for a large family - we'll be back there very soon!

Not long back from PP *sighs* and yet to find the time to write a full report of my visit, but visited both El Posito and O Lume for the first time this year. Both were excellant!

We had a table booked at Can Josep for the night of world cup final, but they closed for the night with little or no warning, leaving us to wander the streets in search of sustinence and a telly! Suffice it to say they did not receive our custom on any later day!

However, their loss was our gain, the guys at Brisamarina squashed us in in front of their telly, and we had one of the best evenings and nicest food of our entire holiday. So a big thank you goes out to them!

The Chef at Can Josep was not going to work that night, so rather than try and prepare food not up to the usual standard they decided to close.

Yeah,

Josep told me that the Chef had never , ever asked for a night off in nearly two seasons ( including his birthday , anniversary etc ) so when he asked Josep to close so that they could all enjoy the World Cup Final night it didn't seem such an unreasonable request. After all once in a lifetime experience ( usually unless your German or Brazilian !!! ) seeing your country in a World Cup Final ( I'll tell you about it , Smiddy , when we meet up next :D).

Don't give up on em for one night's closing.

Looking forward to going back to Can Josep next week, always a great welcome and a lovely meal.

I was there, Mate. A callow yoof of 18 at the time. Got thrown in the fountains in Trafalgar Square that night when everyone moved onto the centre of London to celebrate . Be surprised if I experience it again but you know us England fans, we always live in hope !!!

Were you at the Bhoys, tonight ??? Sorry about the result .

O' Lume.

Hi all just returned from pp.While we where there it was are Daughter-in-laws 40th birthday. As we have been to O'Lume a number of times she chose to go there for her party. Jaime pulled out all the stops and made it a very special evening. The food once again was superb and he ordered a very yummy cake with candles. The table was decorated with flowers, balloons and he had special napkin rings made to mark the occasion. Can't recommend the restaurant and staff highly enough. The evening was a wonderful success and part of a very good holiday.
regards
Bedfordboy.
