Does anyone have any idea which restaurants are open in Pollensa over the winter ? We will probably visit the Port but as we are going to be staying in town would like to be able to walk out some evenings.

Hola Roman

I don't think Pollensa has the same "closedown" that the port has over the winter months.

I'm sure you wont have a problem. :)

Enjoy your trip and let us know how you get on.

I know Manzanas y Peras is closed until next year and Clivia close at some point in November for a break.

I'm fairly sure Spira and Trencadora are open all year round - both of which we've enjoyed recently. La Fonda closes in November and reopens in February. But there will definitely be more open than there would be in the Port - I love the quieter atmosphere in the square out of season, especially at Cafe Espanyol and Club Pollensa. Be careful though if eating late and thinking you'll pop to the square for an after-dinner digestif - pretty much everything is closed after 11PM (or sometimes earlier).

Thank you for all your replies. We have been to Trencadora before, will have to try Spira as well it looks good on trip advisor.

Il Giardino (in the square) has, in the past, always closed at the end of October, re-opening in March. However, under new management this year, this may have changed. Their website has not been operational for a few weeks now, but you could always Email them at the following - info@giardinopollensa.com

Il Guardinio has been closed the past two Sundays when i have been in old Town.

Spira has a MDD from Tuesday to Friday during winter. Only 9 euros i believe, looking forward to trying it next week.

Trencadora is closed until January 25th. Any updated list of the restaurants that are open in december?

Thanks Sparky , thought maybe that several of these were only open on Christmas Eve and New Years eve :-)

Is it only 2 restaurants that are open i Pollensa in winter time?

As with the port its very seasonal and can change month to month. Those generally open throughout the winter are (cheekily in price, higher to lower) - Can Costa, Spira, Cantonet (not this year though as relocating buildings), La Posada de Ariant, Trattoria (Trencadora), La Fonda, Clivia, Namaste (Indian), Club Pollensa, L'illa Cafe and Club Espanyol. However some will close for eg November, December or February so it is important to call and make a reservation.

Thank you for that PollensaToni :).

Very good advice re booking, even if they say they are open, sometimes if it's really quiet some of them close early or don't open at all if they don't have any bookings :(.

Absolutely right Sparky. For example, Gulio at Cantonet tells me his cut-off time is 930pm - if no punters it's an early night.
I should also mention that there has been some intriguing activity in recent weeks in Pollensa on Calle de Cecili Metel. Not only do we have an enormous new fruit shop (this takes our greengrocers to at least 47 (semi-joke)) but intriguingly for this page a quite sophisticated (by Pollensa standards) new bar/restaurant which has just opened. I will do a reccy when I am in town over xmas/NY and update then as it was certainly open in early December.

No Toni i don't go into the town very often, i prefer to stay within staggering distance of home  ;).
