The Pollensa wine fair is organised by the Associacio Vi primitiu in conjunction with the Pollensa council.

Ann, I've had a look at the Vi Primitiu site you recommended, but am still struggling to find a few details. Would you or anyone else be able to tell me the following:

Where is The Cloisters in the Old Town?

What are the times of the festival?

How much is it, and does one have to buy tickets in advance, or can you "pay on the door" ?

Any other general information, is food provided, is it mainly Mallorcan wines, or would Spanish and others be included?

Answers to some, or any of the above, would be greatly appreciated

Pinewalker - from memory it is all day Saturday and Sunday and costs 5 euros a head including free glass! Not sure about exact timings

Yes it's usually all day Saturday and Sunday (Friday is for press and VIPs), Sunday is the busiest day as that's also market day in Pollensa. You pay at the door, last year it was 5 euros and you are given a glass (which you can keep) and a booklet telling you which stall is which vineyard. You use your glass to taste as many of the wines as you like, most stalls also have little snacks to soak up the vino and bottled water to rinse out your glass (just chuck the dregs on the ground if there is no bucket handy!). You can, of course, buy bottles from the stalls. If memory serves me right the wines are mostly from the Balearics, but I have last year's catalogue in my office and will check that on Monday.
The Cloisters is in the centre of Pollensa town, there are gardens outside, a church and old people's home attached, it's opposite the tourist office, follow signs for "Claustres"
You probably won'r find information about the fair on their website until a week or so before -- it's the way things are done here! I only found out the date by asking one of the main organisers/exhibitors

Thanks for pointing that out. The section on the main website was for 2007 and this has now been updated. Yes I'm pretty sure that the dates we have here are correct.

Not going home until early morning of 26th now

We've swithered for ages as already heading out to PP at the end of May but the lure of the wine festival proved too strong. Been following Globespan prices and due to really good deal (£76 return flight each from Edinburgh) are heading out for an extra 9 day break.Happy days!
