Hi All

We popped over to look at our new house at the weekend and encountered the worst possible weather with a tropical rain storm that soaked you in a 20yard sprint...well, more of a hobble probably! Also snow on the mountains!

Anyway, as a result of coming over, we realise that we'll probably need some help with a few things like decorating and stuff. Also, a man and a van...if they exist?

Where does everyone take their large item to discard? Is there a refuse dump anywhere near? If so can you take anything for free? Is there anyone who works on a lower level to the main cleaning companies that live in the area and keep an eye on your place and deal with possible deliveries.

Any thoughts would be much welcomed!

TIA

Ditto- we were also there signing for our new apartment and experienced exactly the same questions and weather!! Apparently there is a local tip in Pollensa Town but not sure where. We have changed all the furniture in ours but used people that would take the old away so we only needed to use the local bins for bits and bobs and small items. We have also enlisted someone to be a key holder and to check on our property. Not sure about accepting about deliveries though as delivery times can be very unpredictable! Multi hire have been brilliant and are able to recommend people and places as well as providing services. Not sure what type of furniture you are looking for but happy to share the companies we have used. We managed to sort everything within the 4 days we had after completion. Still more to do when we next arrive but mainly painting and aesthetic things. Good luck.

The new refuse dump is behind Lidl, its free.
We use PFM as the Management company that look after our villa, they advertise on this site, we highly recommend them and Fran will arrange painting etc and also take in deliveries, great service.
Enjoy your new villa.

Thanks PP76, will check them out.

422jh....glad to hear someone else is doing what we're doing, we've found it quite an experience if you've not done it before and a bit scary too!

I actually set up a Saturday morning trip via Alcudia, Caan Picafort, Manacor, before stopping by at Bauhaus on the way home. We dropped into Ikea on the way in on Friday. We thought Expo was wonderful, but sadly most things were well out of our budget! might get a couple of bits there. Habaticle in Caan P was a good stop for some budget bits and pieces, but Ikea is the go to for us for most of the basic stuff.

Where to take unwanted furniture

Hi all

If you have unwanted furniture, you can contact the @Allen Graham charity shop on Medico Llopis and they will collect it from you. We did this when we changed sofas, they were very pleased to have the items. Hope this helps.
