...the situation isn't the same as the one in Puerto Pollensa as the kiosk isn't situated on the public way as such. It is on land which is "seemingly municipal" but not actually registered.

Both Cifre and March face possible proceedings for malfeasance in having allowed the kiosk in Puerto Pollensa to continue to operate without putting it out to tender. The Valls family has, for a completely different reason (to continue with the concession), also placed a case before the courts.

The Gelats Valls ice-cream kiosk by the Plaça Major in Pollensa will be dismantled by the town hall later this month. The space will be used for parking bikes.

Mayor Miquel Àngel March says that the town hall has agreed to assume the cost of removing the kiosk, given that the company is in receivership. The town hall will add its name to the list of creditors and see if the administrator will make a reimbursement.

In June, the company went into receivership. Ten employees were laid off. One part of the family has established a new ice-cream parlour in Pollensa.

Still situated in the main square. It's just a couple of properties along from Can Moixet. It opened when we were there in June, and was an instant hit! It's being run by the same ladies (mum & daughter?) that had been running the kiosk for so many years. It serves ice cream in the front/pavement and has seating area inside
