Agree with bella open restaurants were few and far between! Great evening at Cellar Parrar but that was definitely because of the company and not the food. And it wasn't just me who found a nice chicken dish overpowered by salt
Is there a reason the Mallorquins put so much salt in their food?
Other places we found open were La Llonja where we had a fantastic meal ... A little canape plus warm bread roll and olive tapenade when we first arrived with our aperitives. Roasted vegetables for me and whitebait for chels as a starter. Followed by three different white fish fillets served with well cooked veg (not well cooked as in over!!) and saute potatoes. Then a delicious tiramisiu with an expresso sauce served separately in a shot glass for me, and creme brulle with raspberries (or blackberries can't quite remember)for chels. We did our usual 50/ 50 share on starter and pud
The service was excellent and it was a first class meal served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere overlooking the bay (Bella it closed the day after we went and I didn't realise this when I spoke to you sorry!)
El Temple in Pollensa is a real find. Opposite El Cantonet just before the big church at the top of the hill. With those directions you're sure to find it :lol It's a really cosy little taverna ..always busy, and it has some very interesting and beautifully presented things on the menu.The owner has obviously found a brilliant chef!
We had tapas to start which when they arrived looked really pretty and 'nouvelle cuisine'ish and served on beautiful oblong white plates. We both had the same main course of pork fillet served in a curry and honey sauce..we've had this before and it's absolutely delicious. We then shared a gorgeous chocolate brownie and ice cream
All washed down with a bottle of Macia Batle Crianza . Two coffees and a couple of Hierbas and the bill came to 66 euros
On our last full day we went to Stay for lunch (chels was going to watch football in the evening) We had the menu del dia which was good value at 30 euros. I definitely think Stay and La Llonja are in competetion with each other as the style and presentation are very similar. We had a little canape thingy served on one of those large chinese spoons. Starter for me was a clam and prawn pasta in a delicious sauce and chels had goats cheese salad with pesto dressing. Followed by a meat skewer of lamb,pork and chicken again in a lovely sauce and vegetables. The portions are just the right size given you a great mix of flavours without leaving you feeling too stuffed. Having said that the dessert of fruit, ice cream and a chocolate biscuity thing defeated me :eek
I stayed home in the evening while hubby went to watch the game. I had a lovely time watching tv ( a brilliant new series called Mistresses) AND I cooked dinner...poached eggs on toast :rollin :rollin
