Getting really excited now as arriving in the port next Monday for a month!!! Being a winter novice, would like to have a bit of inside info about San Antoni! Do we all get up early to wait for the tree arriving? Do the bonfires begin at a specific time? What happens on the 17th? Finally would like to see the service with the animals in Pollenca town, what time/date is that?

I know forum members will be able to help so a big thankyou in advance!!
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year with Best Wishes from Anne & Bob McGregor

Hi Anne i was a virgin last year so will let the locals fill you in, as for times it's the usual mañana affair, the tree arrives when it arrives, the fires start when they start! Very jealous of your month, you will get to see most things, check out Pollensa on the 20th I think in the evening, details in the guides here . http://www.puertopollensa.com/events.html
Have a good month, maybe see you there

Thankyou SWS!!! We have been visiting PP for 20 years but this is our first San Antoni.
We'll just enjoy the day when it arrives! Hoping the weather will hold out as it's looking sunny next week at the moment. We have met a few forum members over the last year including Sparky so hope to share a drink(s) at some stage with other regulars!!
Hopefully see everyone soon!!!

Hi Anne, i am afraid the powers that be here are terrible at giving out info on fiestas and it's always left until the last minute . The bars start lighting their fires on the 16th from about 6pm onwards, it's great to walk around the Port during the day and watch them building them. Be prepared for a long, noisy, boozy night ;). The blessing of the animals on the 17th is at about 11/11.30am at the church and although the guys are up very early to go to Formentor on the boat for the tree it's anyones guess what time it will arrive .
To give you an idea just type San Antoni 2010/11 or 12 on the "Search" facility and you will find plenty of info.
I hope to see you around, have a great time, i love it, it's my favourite fiesta of the year :D.

You could drive over to Formentor for breakfast with the locals, and then get back in time to see the boat arrive. The animal parade in the Old town is a much bigger one than the Port and is as Sparky says about 11.00.

Thanks for the times Sparky, very useful although no doubt it is by the Spanish clock, i.e + / - a couple of hours either way! Look forward to seeing you around the Port when we get there.

Thanks Sparky and other forum peeps. Sounds great and all being well will be leaving rainy Poole at 6am a week Mon for a whole new experience!

Looking forward to seeing you all!!!

The Marina Cafe on the seafront is a meeting point at 0700 for the boat to Formentor on the 17th . Didn't indicate if you need to pre book.
