fires are all looking good and wind is dropping its going to be a good one. Hope to see one or 2 of you out and about tonight . Have fun stay safe. :)

Have a great time... :(

Great night! Perfect weather, clear, dry and calm. Which bonfire was judged the best? The one at Cafe Eu Moll? The busiest had to be at Tofol's? Now a new day begins with more to look forward to!

Yes it was a fab night but the wind did get quite strong later. There were a lot more fires this year, a friend told Colin that he had cycled around the Port and counted 32 .

Thanks for some great pics. Do you know if the tree was finally climbed?
I left at around 5.45 and it had not by then 2 got so close they could almost touch the bag but just couldn't make the last bit. When I left they were all getting very tired but still trying what an amazing weekend.:D

Those people who were here this weekend were lucky enough to witness what has to be one of the most amazing Fiestas.
This whole weekend shows everything that is good about PP. fantastic involvement by all ages. For me the Highlight of the weekend was seeing all the small children at the front of the ropes pulling the tree through the town. Fully involved ensuring traditions and family values never die.
Where in the world can hundreds if not thousands of people of all ages and gender, gather around open fires burning in the middle of the streets, drink huge amounts of alcohol, drag a several hundred foot pine tree through the streets lather it with washing up liquid, erect it in the square and then try to climb to the top to reach a bag of cash, whilst being well fueled with the local alcohol. and surround by Fire crackers and huge bangs.
All of the above without 1 spot of trouble, and seeped in traditions. The entire day was policed by 4 local Police officers. ( wonder how many would be needed in any town in England if such an event were allowed to take place) If you have always dismissed San Antoni because its in January. trust me you are missing something very special. have a look at the pictures and book for next year I guarantee you will talk about it for a very long time

The bag was still up there when we walked past about an hour ago

me thinks this year it will still be there on Ash Wednesday :) Big Old tree and lots of fairy Liquid did for the boys and girls who tried sadly this year

Looks like some people finally got to the top tonight, video on FB! :)
