Seaplanes in PP.

Just had a quick walk near to the military base and can only see two seaplane so far.

One is the Italian one but the other I'm not too sure of.

I took a photo but it's not great quality but any how I can see:

N206M (American Registered) but not in the aviation database. But it appears to be a Cessna Amphibian. Seen HERE is another plane of the same make.

N197TF (American Registered again) is luckily in the database as I couldn't for the life of me identify this strange looking plane!
Turns out to be a Lake LA-250 Renegade. The same plane can be seen pictured HERE. This is the one that has come from Lago Colmo near venice, Italy.

Still missing a seaplane, and three helicopters so far. Probably haven't finished their dinner at Son Bonet yet! Should be here soon though.

Apart from that only one Canadair CL-215T is on display at the moment, being 43-16.

Thanks for that Sea Captain, unfortunately the pictures can't be seen it says they are copyright protected ;).
 
Strange it should work as it takes you to the main page of the photo. And you're right it says above each photo: This photo is copyright protected and may not be used in any way without proper permission.. But you should still see it on their site, You may have a slight problem viewing the pics then! :D

No worries though I'll be down there tomorrow to take my own pics ;)
 
We saw one of the Canadair planes land followed about 30 minutes later by two white ones :confused: which I think looked like the pictures Sea Captain posted...I could see them sparky! They both did a few spins around the bay before landing. Left the beach about 6.40pm but no sign of any other planes or helicopters. Must have been a good lunch ;)

Took a few pictures which I'll try to download later but not sure how good they'll be.
 
I have just had another look and i can see them now, thanks again for posting them SC :).
 
Where are the Float Planes

Hi arrived PP yesterday and was expecting to see a carnival in the sky. Where are the float planes. Or maybe the pilots all have long Siestas!
 
There are only 4 this time and they were on the ground at the military base which was open to the public during the morning. Really good to see them allowing the children and the not so small to climb aboard and taking time to explain the workings.
 
It seems to have been a bit of a non event this time but i hear there is another one planned for May 1st 2013 and they already have 17 planes signed up ;):D.

It was a great thing to see up close and personal wasn't it Sea Captain! A shame two of them couldn't make it, but it was certainly great to go inside those gates.
We loved the helicopter and the aerobatics of the single plane high above us and flying into the sun and swooping low in so many twists and turns, was absolutely amazing. A few tummys rolling just watching it from the safety of the ground! To see the port spread out infront of you from the Military Base was a sight you dont often get to see either. The short wait in the sunshine was no problem at all, and the check in became very efficient to get us all through even quicker.

We managed to find the organiser and thank her for all the effort they had gone to. The pilots and staff were wonderful, and as for the guys in uniform ~ well, we all love a uniform don't we! ;)
 
Well done S.C. - excellent and interesting 'piccies'.
Wish I could have been there, never been inside 'the Base' though had a look through the entrance on odd occasions over the years.
 
Yes it was quite something.
I did head up around about 12 ish but couldn't believe my eyes there was a queue snaking all the way around the corner!
I believe that was when the TV crews were there.

I went back about 1:20ish and was surprised to see no one lining up at all, what came as even more of a surprise was they just let me straight in, so much for needing a passport!

I think I stayed till about 2ish when lots of men in uniform came out with megaphones haha!
But yes it was very interesting, had a nice long chat with one of the pilots, interesting to hear they constantly rotate and they were back to Madrid not long after.

I thought it was funny hearing people ask questions such as "Where does the water go?" "What happens when you run out of water?". Not saying people were being silly :p Aviation is a hobby of mine hehe
 
My son is a RN helicopter pilot instructor and he was disappointed to miss this event, hopefully he will be able to get leave for the May 2013 event :D.
 
Sea Captain, you must have been one of the last,they were turning people away earlier if they had no ID.
 
They were quite strict early on - we were there about 11.30 and they had just started not really checking by the time we got to the front just before 12. but you still need to have ID. The people in front of us had to wait whilst someone dashed back to get some, but by the time they got through and we saw them again, they said they were no longer checking!
I think it was because the queue had become so long in that heat that the officers took pity and just got people moving in before the acrobatics startted.
 
Hi Sparky - you mention the 'May 2013 event' (presumably at the Base).
Any further info' at this time - my time of year (I hope!).
