Pollensa police warned drivers and passengers to be on the lookout this morning after a series of robberies from cars across the municipality.
According to police a person approaches a car and distracts the driver meanwhile his colleague steals valuable objects from the interior of the vehicle.
A number of motorists have fallen victim to the scam.
The social media platforms have gone into overdrive to try to locate the alleged perpetrators of a wave of robberies of elderly people in the north of Mallorca, especially Pollensa.
“Two women of gypsy origin have assaulted my aunt. One is waiting in a small white car with the engine running while the other approaches the victim and tells her that she is not feeling well and starts to touch her neck and hands with a greasy substance with which she steals her bracelets and rings”, a relative of one of the victims told Ultima Hora.

Those affected have released an image of one the stolen jewels. [see picture on website]
If anyone recognises it or is offered to buy it illegally, they are asked to alert the Guardia Civil by calling 062.

The tourist saturation in the municipality of Soller has become a significant draw for pickpockets. With the start of the summer season and the influx of tourists, thieves are taking advantage of the crowded conditions. They have been particularly active in the Plaça de sa Constitució, the Puerto Soller, and even on the Soller train, often disguising themselves as tourists to blend in.
