Thanks for posting new photos.

Looks to be a really good job. Lots of people involved now.

I’m in the port just now and can confirm that the works are really coming on well.

Here is a rough translation of a report in the DDM :-

The first line will open to traffic in mid-February

The authorities visited the works of the second phase this week, which are proceeding according to the expected pace

The works of the second phase of the seimipeatonalización of the first line of the Port of Pollença advance according to the planned rhythm, reason why the City council trusts that the section between the roundabout of Enginyer Roca and the Paris avenue can be opened to the road traffic to mid-February.

In this section, the closest to the port area, the paving stones that were included in the execution project are being placed, a work that will be completed within fifteen days, according to the Consistory 'pollencí', whose authorities made a visit to the construction site this week with the architect, the municipal engineer and the construction manager of the construction company.

Once completed the aforementioned stretch with cobblestones, a material that, according to the technicians who have worked on the project, will resist the passage of heavy vehicles, the construction company will start the work of enabling the bike lane to the area of Llenaire.

Simultaneously with the construction of the bike lane, the wall that separates the promenade from the beach, which is currently in a state of degradation, will be reformed. The wall will be topped with a piece of stone at the top.

At the same time, the stormwater network has already been reinforced and the new sinks are expected to be installed in the coming days.
It is worth remembering that from next May, the circulation of vehicles will be totally prohibited between Enginyer Roca and Paris Avenue between 6:00 pm and 7:00 am of the following day during all the days of the year.

The original can be read here :- La primera línea se abrirá al tráfico a mediados de febrero - Diario de Mallorca

That’s new isn’t it, they were only talking about may be doing it, I think that’s great news, and also hopefully the cycle lane will be completed as well!!

It will be interesting to see how they enforce it ;).

There is a dividing cobble between the "road" and the cycle lane. It is angled and rutted so I would imagine the cycle lane will be slightly lower than the "road". This, I assume is to warn road users if they are crossing over into the cycle lane. From what I can see there will be no dividing planters or other objects.

With regards to enforcing it I would imagine the sheer volume of people using the pedestrianised "road" will ensure that vehicles don't enter after 18:00. I'm aware I've harked on about this previously but I really think this will improve the south beach area enormously. No, it will never be the pine walk but it will definitely give a fantastic alternative. I'm sure the restaurants and bars in this area will be looking forward to completion and hopefully an upturn in business.

Hello to anyone in PP at present.

any further photos of sea front. How is the work coming along.?

just back, no pics of work but they seem to be working really hard

workmen swarming all over Pollentia hotel - all windows out - & huge apartment blocks being built up by airbase

Port quite busy for festivities, but dead last night,
locals sleeping it off probably

Have to say it’s all looking good.

Hi all, thanks for all the info above.

Is new seating going in to the wall at all does anyone know? If so will it face the road or out to sea? Also will the new wall run all the way up to Llenaire?

Sorry for the 20 questions.

As far as i know the new seating will be free standing and facing the bay, also the entire wall is being renovated ;).

looks like they are doing the wall all the way along, looks great and the cycle lane is going in to, fantastic, hopefully a nice smooth ride now rather than the terrible surface of the last couple of years!!
Very impressed with the speed of the work, can't wait to get out to see it all!!

Morning, I saw some pics on facebook last night that made it look like the block paving was all done? Is that so? If so they have certainly done that quickly and on the pictures it looked lovely! Do they expect to be all done by Easter (not that we are venturing out then this year unfortuantely)? Can't wait to see it in May.

Watching them working on the cycle path today, its looking good, it is raised now level with the path so should make it a lot safer and stop cars from parking on it like they did sometimes last year.

Is there anything separating it from the footpath or might cyclists stray onto the pedestrian pavement.
