The trees help though! Hopefully it will be painted blue to highlight it!

Also, kerbs have been laid between the pavement, cycle path and road, they may be level with the surfaces but still give a visual separation. Once again i feel we need to wait until it's finished ;).

Has the road from the yacht club roundabout to ave Paris been finished now with Paviors ?

It looked good from the early photos I saw .

The blocks laid to differentiate between the "road" and cycle path are rumbled and have been laid at a very slight decline. Pretty similar to the rumbled blocks on the road from PP to Alcudia. When driving this road there is a very distinct noise which the kids found hilarious when younger.

I would say the chances of any cyclists accidently straying over into the "road" would be very slim however I'm not sure the chances of pedestrians going into the cycle path would be that slim.

In my opinion there seems to be a bit of scaremongering going on which I think will turn out to be unjustified. I honestly think the cycle path will be used by strollers like myself rather than "real" cyclists who would want to got at any decent pace.

I didn’t intend to scaremonger, I was just a little surprised that the cycle path and “road” were going to be at the same level as the footpath. I thought the separators put in last year to protect the cyclists were really good. They clearly defined the cycle path.

Where will "real" cyclists ride?

I think cycle Speed Limits must apply, just as the speed of vehicles must be controlled to a suitable level through the semi - pedestrianisation.

Pedestrians may stray into the cycle lane and road unexpectedly, as is my experience of cycle lanes on footpaths in the UK!! All should be travelling at compatible speeds!

Don't be silly. It is a known fact that cyclists are in charge of the roads and everyone else has to fall in with them.........:)

Not sure if it is still the same, but when they put the cycle lane in can Picafort years ago they thought it was a good idea to put it right next to the beach wall.

If that wasn't a recipe for disaster then I don't know what was.

Obviously the common sense police were away the day they thought that one up.

Oh Dear,
Madam " S " rescue me. It's posted twice. HELP !

Tarmac going on now, looking very smart, I guess they will do the road too now!

Does anyone have any up to date pictures of the progress? Need a little boost to distract me from the horizontal rain in London this morning.

I get the impression you are being a wee bit obtuse Gordo but I will go along with it.

Real cyclists who want to go at a decent pace will use the by-pass. Real cyclists who are perhaps stopping at Tolos or café 1919 etc will I think go at a strolling pace well within whatever speed limit is stipulated.

What is the speed limit btw?

I think pedestrians have got to remember that it is a cycle lane and as opposed to any cyclists crossing into the road it is pedestrians duty to not cross the cycle lane unless at designated crossing points. The amount of times pedestrians stepped onto the cycle lane when I was using it without looking for cyclists last year was frightening.

OK guys this topic is about the work on the front, please, no more comments about cyclists :(.

Sparky, I think you do a great job of refereeing us lot most of the time, but I do feel that to ask us to refrain from making any more comments about cyclists is somewhat unfair, particularly as the subject is about a combined pedestrian area and cycle lane! I think Hoopy's comments are very valid, and I totally agree with them. As long as the comments about cyclists doesn't go off at a tangent and end up like they have in previous years when anybody wearing 'lycra' was tarred with the same brush and slagged off by many on this forum as being irresponsible, a danger to others etc etc. I, for one, am looking forward to using the cycle lane in a considerate and well mannered way in June!

Your comment which i have highlighted is the reason for my request, i know from past experience that this is exactly what will happen so i stand by my decision ;).

I agree with Jonsey.I think that critical comment is what the forum is all about. Respectful but critical.
