I've been out for a week and yes it's grey, not as grey as the sky but it's a lot better than before and will be a vast improvement when finished. The materials used is all about the budget. :)

I agree Rebel, the work had to be done within the available budget and the "cloth" was cut accordingly.

I didn't see anyone working this morning either.

no sign of a push to tidy it up for easter.

I am not too sure that anyone staying along at tamarrells / LLenaire will be too pleased. Neither would any hotel owners.

If only they'd started just a couple of months earlier.....

When did they start then?
I thought it was well into the winter, or am I mistaken?
Even so, they've obviously mismanaged it.

Anyway, before people start bemoaning me I'm sure it will turn out well and it can only be a benefit.

Just looked back to the start of this and the signage went up about a third of the way through November?
If they'd started at the beginning of October, to me the end of September is the end of any holiday season proper, they'd have finished and cleaned up this bit.
Just my opinion people...

Work started on the 9th November.

The season officially starts on the 1st May and ends on the 31st October :).

The work started as soon as it was feasible to do so.

The problem was that the company who won the contract weren´t able to comply with the conditions and over the Christmas period were "relieved of their duties", the town hall having to look and in a short period of time, for someone else to replace them.

This they were able to do, the new company having to catch up with the original schedule and then keep to it, something I reckon they are doing.

Pinaret, there were a few workmen around, but due to the fact that traffic is being allowed to use the entire road, it is difficult for the cement trucks to unload the concrete needed to continue with the pavements.

Happy Easter !

Hi Nick,

The correct time to start this was November 1, there are still plenty of people around in October & there is the schools half term which is pretty popular.

No , the damage done was in november /December & a really slow start with too few numbers employed.

Firstly I would make clear I am firmly in the camp that we should wait and see the work completed before commenting on the work either way. However I have to disagree that this is either a matter just for Pollensans or that the final outcome should have anything to do with 'cutting your cloth '. We are all Europeans and as such should have a shared view on a quality standard. Undoubtedly people will have differences over design, colour schemes , materials etc which will never be resolved !! I know how much of this went on over my recent house extension/new kitchen !!Poor quality design/workmanship however is a completely different issue. Shortened timescales, changing contractors are a fact of life in all engineering projects but the Council and the Contractors are totally, and rightly responsible for fixing these issues during the process or subsequent to the completion . We all have a right on a Public construction project to comment and hold them to task. In a democratic world it's how you keep the Beurocrats and politicians honest !!

Please don't let us forget that there are opposition parties in the local council, some of whom are also not entirely happy with the way things are proceeding or with the end result, one of them having handed a list of 63 ( sixty three ) objections with corresponding photos to the Lord Mayor.

One of these you will be pleased to hear is asking for the removal of the lamp post which has been installed right in the middle of the narrow pavement leading up to the Stay from the main road which makes it difficult for pedestrians to get past, let alone wheelchairs or mobility scooters.

Am I mistaken or can I see quite a few workmen on the webcam this morning?
I thought an earlier post said they'd finished yesterday until after Easter?

P.S. - it looks a glorious morning.

Great post on the Unió Mollera Pollencina Facebook page, pretty much explains the plans for the rest of the first phase and whats planned from November, answers most of our questions and concerns
"First line, the whole project 2016-2017.

It is that, in response to the proposal of the government team presented today on mobility in the first line and the area of llenaire and pinaret, exposing an outline to reach the end of the project whose first phase ends on 4 May and I will continue as from next month of November with anticipated completion before the holy week 2017.
For starters, we'll say that the current work, which is limited to the enlargement of the sidewalks on both sides of the walk, it's just the basis on which the improvements will be of aesthetic and practical nature that will shape the future ride. The remaining work until the beginning of may, in addition, obviously, the end of the extension of the sidewalks and the trees are the following:
1. Placement of pedestrian crossings elevated to the level of the sidewalks to avoid barriers.
2. Identify a provisional bike lane with brands of paint.
3. Implement the layers of resin of termination on the sidewalks, after the cleaning and polishing of concrete pattern.

Starting in November will begin the work of the second phase, which are the following:

1. Vehicle Lane paved the walk in the section between Avenue Paris and the square engineer rock. The pavement, Color Tobacco, will be at the level of the sidewalks to that whole area can peatonalizarse in whole or in part.
2. Construction of a bike lane attached to the sidewalk on the side of the sea with a width of 2 meters, elevated to the level of the new pavement for more safety and security of cyclists.
3. Reconstruction of murette of separation from the beach that will be done with hard-seas of color ochre.
4. Installation of street furniture and ornamental gardening.
The finished project will, according to the technicians, thanks to the contrast of colors and textures between the sidewalks, the pavement, the stone of murette and the sign of the cycle track-a final result nice and very attractive.
Adicionalente to this technical project, it is working in the studies of improvement of the street bot, the asphalt and the connection of the two sections of the street roure, the upgrade and expansion of the tracks in the surroundings of the hotel pollensa park (Fergus) And the acquisition of land for the construction of parking spaces in the second line in llenaire and the pinaret.
From this party, in addition, and despite the opposition of the owners of the gola, we will continue to work to get the construction of a parking lot in the sandlot located on the top of joan xxiii in front of the supermarket eroski. We believe that, while preserving the integrity of the park of the gola, the site allows you to design a parking space with large areas of gardening, trees and motives of traditional architecture that embellezcan the entrance to the port and improve our ability to reception and parking of vehicles.
So, we're just watching, at the moment, the basic structure of an ambitious project that has been made possible thanks to the work of the current government team that manages and improvement, and of the previous team that carried out the initial design and lawful. To both, thank you very much."

Yes Nick, I suspect that you are quite correct ....... a few workmen on site this morning, and even the readymix concrete vehicle can be seen in distance.

yep , also looks like tidying up / sweeping being done around sea bar.

I am not sure that I understand the translation , there is a lot in it , but what scares me is the mention of car parks at llenaire & pinaret ( where ) & also somewhere around pollensa park.

How many miles from beach will these be & do I hear the ring of cash registers.

Access has always been P.P .great strength.

on the translation No.3 is to do with the sea wall, del murete is low wall, so it looks like it will be carried out in phase 2, I know someone had asked about that

I don't know about Llenaire or Pinaret but there is land that is sometimes used for parking opposite the Pollensa Park next to Palms.

None of these areas are miles from the sea, also i wouldn't assume that there will be charges, after all there are already 3 free car parks in PP.

I will reserve judgment on how many car park spaces will be lost under the new system.

The town's free car parks are almost universally used by local residents & business workers .Any carparks for the beach would be entirely for tourists visiting and staying in the area .
