Semi-Pedestrianisation of the front line in PP.

From reading the report by the council I don't think it will be slabs but stamped concrete, which is much quicker to lay.

Last year we had the surround of our pool done in stamped concrete. Looks great and much easier to lay than individual slabs. It maybe not quite as lovely to look at as slabs but still looks very effective...and much more hard wearing. For those that know the Illa d'Or they have this surface on their jetty out to sea

We had the drive to our complex done some years ago and all it needs is maintenance every few years to clean and protect the surface.

Whilst on the front this morning I saw the Mayor walking along the road obviously inspecting progress. There did seem to be a fair bit of activity close to the roundabout.

Lots of concrete being poured this morning in sections though still looks odd - can't fathom the final layout at all as it still looks like the've put a kerb in creating a narrower road? Oh well - all will be revealed but they are cracking on now!

Maybe you know but I'm assuming the plan is to return the bus stop to the front line in time for the season starting and not on Calle Roger de Flor from now on as surely that will only lead to chaos.

I too am assuming it will move back when the first stage is complete because they have not removed the seats and canopy from the original site .

The stretch of the frontline from C/ El Cano and C/ La Gola will be closed to traffic from tomorrow morning and El Cano will become 2 way from the front to C/ Verge del Carme, this will allow access to the car park.

What happened to the stamped coloured paving, zooming in on the pictures the finish is dreadful. Let's hope that's not the finished job.
I was looking forward to the new design layout for the front, let's hope it's not let down by the materials being used and a rush to get the front finished for the start of the season.

This is probably the just the first stage and i think we need to give them a chance. The UMP (who posted the photos) are an opposition political party and they are watching this project closely, at the moment they are satisfied with the progress.

The cement shown in the photo has already been stamped, as will the subsecuent bits that are being cemented as we speak.

The colour will be grayish, and after having been cleaned, will be slightly shiny, to look like an old pavement.

I will reserve my opinion until I see the finished product.

I cannot believe that is stamped ...it looks ****** awful
When our pool surround was done they laid the first lot of cement, and when it was dry a second thinner layer was applied, which was then stamped.

At the moment 'like an old pavement' is exactly what it looks like..but not in a good way!

I will reserve judgement until I see for myself as its difficult to comment on a picture when we dont know what the process is for the finish of it, what I will say is how lovely and wide it is, how did we ever put up with the 2ft wide one that was there and all the times we had to step in the road to get around people, all a thing of the past now. I am looking forward to seeing it in the summer with families strolling up and down like they do from the other side of the roundabout up to the pine walk!!

I'm looking forward to the next set of photo's (of the same area) which, hopefully, will show a very nice looking stamped pattern - just hold your breath!
Hope we get a bit of colour on the next section that they complete. Fingers crossed.

I should make clear that the photo shows the cement BEFORE it was stamped. It has to dry for a few hours before the stamping process can take place.

I would imagine that the finish ( before the chewing gum ) will be very similar to the pavement tiles used on Joan XXIII and other parts of town.

I suppose one advantage is that it can be maintained ( cleaned ) by just using a high pressure water machine.

I would imagine that buses going back to Palma will have to go down Joan XXIII, round the roundabout, along the "one way pedestrian system" stopping opp Pollensa Park and Llenaire and then going up Avda LLenaire to the main ring road.

If not, how are all the tourist buses going to be able to drop off and pick up their clients who are catching the glass bottom boats to Formentor and farther afield ?.

Today the colour was being applied which is how our drive was done. It is a grey colour . I think everyone should give the workmen time to finish the job before passing judgement. There are areas of slabs which I presume will break up the solid look.
