I think i will stop posting photos until it is finished .

No, please don't, its interesting for those of us not lucky to be there all year round to see the progress so long as all remember not to judge the works too early.

Yes please carry on Sparky, its great for us over here to be kept in the picture, we do appreciate your efforts as always, pretty please!!

Please carry on sparky!

I obviously misunderstood Molt de-Renou's post saying the cement in the photo had been stamped already, as it looked nothing like other examples I have seen

I am one of the biggest supporters of the pedestrianisation and as sws says the width of the pavement already looks so much better. Can't wait to see it 'in the flesh'

I thought I would be a clever dickie and assist members by Googling the name Paviland printed on the sacks (of cement?) in the pictures of earlier posts. It may give a clue as to the system they are using to renew the paving.

This was the best I could come up with.....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Lady_of_Paviland

Paviland would seem to be on the Gower in South Wales - no connection to Mallorcan cement or building materials, then. :o

Which reminds me that the Gower is a great place for a UK holiday - unspoilt beaches, country side and, it seems, an Upper Paleolithic-era human male skeleton dyed in red ochre

Holidays

I must admit that I think that I will stick with Puerto Pollenca rather than Gower for the next few years, but thanks for the tip anyway!!

You didn't misunderstand me, I explained myself wrongly.

My mistake, not yours !

OOps, I wasn't suggesting everyone changes their allegiance. It's PP for me as well! And particularly the grandkids, who are even now planning their activities for August.

Hi There to anyone in PP.

Any new pics or news on last weeks work along the sea front ?

I am getting excited

many thanks

The pictures wouldn't show the stamped effect on the concrete or the tiles which break it up at the moment as everywhere is so dusty. It all needs hosing and the finish sealant put on, but they are now laying the concrete on the beach side along past the marina carpark.

Hoteliers want postponement of Puerto Pollensa pedestrianisation work » Balearics » News » Majorca Daily Bulletin

The Pollensa Hoteliers Association, which until now has maintained a silence over the work on the semi-pedestrianisation in Puerto Pollensa, is to meet the company responsible for the work at the town hall today. It is asking that work which has currently been undertaken in demolishing existing pavement is completed and that no other work is started, but is rather delayed until next winter.

...

It is precisely because of Easter, an earlier start to the season and the anticipation of greater numbers of early-season tourists that the association wants part of the project put off until the winter.
...

No way, just get on and do it until it's totally finished, if necessary, increase the workforce.
If it's left half done then,
1. It will look a mess,
2. Funds/interest may well run out.

I really don't know what the hoteliers are on about, the work that is being done is only the planned phase 1 which is due to be finished in May at the official start of the season .

I reckon they would like to see the demolished pavements finished before they start digging up any more.

I am inclined to agree with them.

Let's not forget that since they started the weather has been continuously on their side and they still seem to be behind schedule.

But, as they say here, no pases pena.

They seem to have stopped outside Tamaralls and gone no further, all the electrics look like they are ready so they just need to lay the concrete now, they could easily get that done in time.

But the contractors have already said that all the demolition work was complete for this phase, so what is their problem?. I am afraid the hoteliers are never happy, they want improvements to be made but don't want the inconvenience that comes with it .

The problem is that they probably know more than we do !

Anyway, time will tell if they are right or wrong.

Curbstones arriving at Tamaralls now!!

Consortium meeting to discuss the pedestrianisation of port of pollença
11/02/2016
This afternoon has been held in the town hall a meeting between the consortium members bag of tourist accommodation and the construction company of draft pedestrianisation of first linea harbour pollença. There were represented the ministry of tourism, the federation of Mallorca hotel through the hotel association of pollença (Consortium members) and the city of pollença (with the consortium the convention to execute the work).
Remember that the consortium approved the draft pedestrianisation and he asked the work, to the company incoc the previous legislature. The role of the city is to fund a part of the work and the technical direction, but the city isn't the organ of recruitment.
The project that was approved and bid had a deadline for implementation of eight (8) months, whereas the period for executing works annoying district of pollença begins in the month of November was that the work would last until The end of the month of June. From the city of pollença consideram approach that this game was already quite wrong, since abocava a serious interference with the tourist season. Finally the company offered a winning time of execution of six (6) months, which is the execution of the works until the end of the month of April. Although the inconvenience by tourism sector already would be important, since this month is already of tourist season.
These facts, compounded by a rhythm of execution of the works that I was deficient in the weeks of work have operated the consortium members and the city council to rethink himself deadlines and development of the work.
At the meeting held today there was agreement between ministry of tourism, Hotel Association and city of pollença to apply to the construction company, incoc, which is a cut in the execution of the works, so That we can move the date of completion of part of the same in early April to retake them and finish them from the month of November. The goal is to interfere with the least possible the tourist season and minimize the risk that more unforeseen delays for weather reasons (for example) can lead to a period of performance even longer, until the month of June, That would be very negative.
Also, it has been ruled out unemployment works during the Easter holidays.
The company, although still maintains that can finish 100 % of the works in the term of the contract (until the 4th of may), Understand the concern of the consortium and consistory and has pledged to seriously consider this request and give an answer within a week.
From the city of pollença appreciate the consortium members that it has come to this agreement, since consideram that as they were raised the implementation deadlines, to which they had to add the potential delays, comprometien excessively The economy of the municipality and the good development of the tourist season. Also, it's that since the company awarded are sensitive to this request to reach a consensus in the interests of all parties and especially for the citizens.
At the meeting have attended, among others, Antonio Sansó Irene Moyà and part of the ministry of tourism, Ramon Cunill part of the hotel association and Michelangelo March, Mayor of pollença, as well as Jose Luis Hurtado, delegate to Mallorca Of incoc.
