I think it's really sad that some people can't or won't see the bigger picture.

For many years, business people, hoteliers, locals and tourists have complained about the lack of investment, the state and width of the pavements and the dangers of too much traffic. At last the issues are being addressed and they are now moaning about the inconvenience and mess while the work is being done, for heavens sake lets give it a chance, it can't be done with the wave of a magic wand.

You never know it might well be fantastic when it is finished but it takes time and patience.

I can see it being a great and positive change, especially the wider foot paths.

Here here Sparky, see my previous post ;)

does anyone know if the concrete will have a non slip quality because the old slabs were lethal when wet!

According to a response from the ajuntamemente to someone on FB the paths will have a resin finish. My understanding is that the roads will not be upgraded until Nov in phase 2.

Surely, you are not expecting rain during the season? That would be a disappointment. ;)

(*Thinks: should I build a spreadsheet, using Sparkys data, to pinpoint the dates for the expectation of rain from March to October?. Perhaps not: some clever clogs will, undoubtedly, already have this information.)

No need for a spreadsheet. It rains every time we visit.Last October we were there for the hurricane - the one that made an almighty mess of the beach - and last month we got thoroughly soaked on the Friday before Sant Antoni, when it rained all day culminating in an extremely heavy thunderstorm in the evening.
So beware if you are visiting third week in April because so are we.

So you got away "lightly" then

At least you weren't blinded by the winds whipping up the cement and sand from the renovations!!

Below is another rough translation of a FB post from the Unio Mollera Pollencina.

Progress of the works of the first line.
Graphic Adjuntam checking the advances of the work of the first line in today's day, February 26, comparing her with the completed the past day 18. for this week is over the demolition of all the acera By the sea, continuing with the construction of kerbs and installation of the stamped concrete.
The highest spot in advance is the installation of the elements of ochre color that break the monotony of the concrete. These items are, by the way, one of the improvements made by the current team of government since the project I only asked a big slab of concrete pattern grey.
It is interesting to know the data provided by the councillor for planning that we reported that are about to start the finishing of the path (clean, polished and resinat) area of the ports, which will be completely finished before Easter.

Love the new wide pavements, just hope we won't be tripping over tables and chairs ;)

From my understanding, Café owners have to rent pavements from the council. These are regulated and checked regularly by the Police. If the café goes over the line that they have paid for they can be fined.

Hopefully someone can reassure me with photos that show the pavement areas near the marina / Stay area, both sides of the road, are completed and are a big improvement on how they used to be. (A serious request, honestly).

Almost daily I check the webcam near Romantic; and immediately glance to the far L - hoping to see positive progress, plus a gang of construction workers, approaching towards Tamarells. But since the prom was first ripped up in late December, nothing positive is visible on the webcam.

It would be reassuring to know that that by now, very late-Feb, things are much better outside the far “L wing” of the webcam.

Any offers ?

Just Being Selfish

Dear Joey36,

Can you also reassure me (and I am sure many, many, others) that you will NOT be in PP fro 13th August until 27th August.

Otherwise, I'd like to wish you very happy Hols!!!
:);)
