Dear Joey36,

Can you also reassure me (and I am sure many, many, others) that you will NOT be in PP fro 13th August until 27th August.

Otherwise, I'd like to wish you very happy Hols!!!
:);)

As one of the many others, I too seek assurances! :D

Hopefully someone can reassure me with photos that show the pavement areas near the marina / Stay area, both sides of the road, are completed and are a big improvement on how they used to be. (A serious request, honestly).

Almost daily I check the webcam near Romantic; and immediately glance to the far L - hoping to see positive progress, plus a gang of construction workers, approaching towards Tamarells. But since the prom was first ripped up in late December, nothing positive is visible on the webcam.

It would be reassuring to know that that by now, very late-Feb, things are much better outside the far “L wing” of the webcam.

Any offers ?

All i can say is please read earlier posts, as far as i know the plan is to have new pavements laid where the old ones have been ripped up by early May.

Nipped out to our apartment last week for 3 days - wonderful weather! Anyway we had a walk along the front - with difficulty in some places because of the work. The work is going on at some pace and I am pretty sure they will be up to Tamarells before Easter. It is good to see wide pavements but the detail of traffic/parking etc will be something to watch for I am sure! Everyone at present is going wrong ways down one way streets but it will not be for long. The quality of the replacement pavements are not great but they are OK. Our only concern is where everyone is going to park in the season - hopefully not all along the bypass. Maybe a car park needs to be made at the back of Pollensa Park Hotel.
Anyway we will wait and watch - we return in April for the wine festival.

HI Carol, thanks for update.
If we are reliant on car parking along the by pass then we & pp are all done for.

Also , the area behind the pollensa park is really wetlands although there is always talk on new 5 star hotel development ( even though it is wetlands)

However good to hear of progress.

Unfortunately, we seem to have a common bond with Joey! Got soaked the night of the hurricane, day round about San Antoni & due to be in the Port the third week in April!! Spooky!!

This was on the Unió Mollera Pollencina Face book page, hope its ok to post it, it shows the current standing on the paths removed in red and the new completed paths in green

I will ask again can we please restrict posts to what's happening on the front line , thank you :).

Back on the 'front line' works.
Hope this may help a little in understanding the coloured plan (SWS post above).
(assuming that I've got it right, that is!)

Bordillos - Kerbs
(Montados) - 'Mounted' (presumably relating to layed kerbs / footpaths?)
Aceras - Sidewalks / footpaths
Hormigon Estampado - Stamped concrete
Approximado realizado del advance de obras - Approximate advancement of the works

Three weeks & a couple of days to Easter.

Just looked at the web cam .Can anyone tell me has the main road been dug up between
Romantic & sea bar been dug up ?

Also has the area up to Paris been completed ( apart from the final finish to the concrete)

There are more photos on 'I love Puerto Pollensa!' FB page showing the completed path up to av Paris, and also one of the path the other way up to the park, all the prep work done, just needs the concrete.
The are working on the stretch between Romantic & sea bar as we speak, not the road just the paths, should be done by Easter :)

Just looking at the webcam in the area near sea bar.

It appears that there are new kerb stones being put in along the road.It would seem that the pavement is now much wider & that the pavement has taken most of one side of the road.If the one way road system is now two single lanes , one of which is a drive thru then the parking available will in effect be halved.
Where will all the cars park during the summer months , all the way up each avenue leading to the playas ?
Not a good thing !

I would tend to agree with that statement. I understand that cars will now have to park alongside the curb instead of at at angle as had previously been planned.

Maybe they will get rid of the bicycle lane in the season to allow more space.

The pavement next to the Sea Bar has been finished before the one next to the park. Good forward planning there if you ask me, which you didnt.

I cant see them opening before the bit further up is finished as the process entails throwing cement powder onto the newly laid concrete, not good if you happen to be down wind from the cement thrower !.

Until this first phase is finished there is no point in guessing exactly how things will work, as i have said before lets wait and see.

All this negativity is serving only to possibly put people off visiting PP, my glass is remaining half full ;). .

Hi Sparky,

No I disagree, this is the whole fun of discussing government intervention in PP.

Look at the history, the back ring road, the i'st attempt at pedestrianisation, la gola & I am sure there are others.
This will not put off those who come here on a regular basis or those who have never visited here before , but what will put people off on going is if the work is not completed & finished off in good nick by the start of the season. 0r if the scheme is not well enough thought out.

Then They will not be back.

Well for entertainments sake, I am going to have one last guess which is that they will finish the land side of the pavement before they finish the sea side one, which will enable businesses, houses and visitors to have a spacious and acceptable place work and walk with finished entrances to the beach on the other side.

A lot can be done on that side in quite a short period of time.

Hopefully not your last guess.

I hope for more comment

Remember what a great place we have , wonderful beach, great bay, super town, terrific restaurants, virtually no high rise , amazing island.

Remember the old adage, If it isn't broke don't fix it.

Again with the negativity, the bypass will come into its on with the one way system, la Gola is a brilliant resource for the port used by many, they have said they will be finished by April which is earlier than they were allowed to in May, of course it will be bad if it is not finished in time but there is no indication that they won't get it finished. Not just on here but on FB there seems to be a hope from some quarters that they will fail just so they can turn around and say 'I told you so'. Once it is all finished we wil wonder why some people made such a fuss about it all.
