Sorry but the pavement between the crossing and the entrance to the beach beside Tamarells has never been finished, i look every day on the webcam thinking how awkward it is for people.

That bit is now finished

Have a question about cycle parking, have they replaced the hoops to lock your bikes up to as they have gone along the front, always cycle down to the beach so need somewhere to lock the bikes up to, see someone has locked one to a lamppost which isn't ideal?

Yesterday I noticed that the pavement PAST the Roca beach bar was enclosed in wire fencing.

Today I see they are digging up the sea side pavenment, which surprises me.

I thought this years project finished opposite the Llenaire roundabout.

On another positive note, the Tamarells pavement has been finished.

Surely everybody must give the workers until the 1st of May to see if they fulfill their promises and to see the finished article before giving it pelters?

We went through all this gun-jumping with La Goleta and that worked out to plan. I have a feeling that phase 1 of the semi-pedestrianisation will be fine.

I understand your point that for the majority of people the completion of Phase 1 won't disrupt or spoil their holiday. However I imagine that locals and tourists with disabilities,especially wheelchair users, could find it very difficult if no temporary ramps are installed until next winter.

I would bet my bottom dollar that the ramps will be installed before May 1st Debz. Lets see

This is a translation from the ajuntament FB page posted tonight :-

Removal of barriers to the works of pedestrianisation of the first line of the port de pollença.
The City that the works of the pedestrianisation of the first line of the port de pollença are not yet finished, and that the final fitness for people with reduced mobility won't be ready until the end of the second phase of works to be executed Winter 2016-2017, since the surface of cobblestones will remove the current steps on the sidewalk. By this summer will be temporary solutions to ensure mobility for disabilities; these adjustments will be implemented in the next few weeks.
Since the city is pray a little more patience and to be sorry about the inconvenience of this period of works.

I hope they are not being influenced by people with other objectives. It seems that the semi-pedestrianisation has become some sort of divisive political tool with certain groups keen to champion it with others keen to rubbish it. Pity

Speaking of public rights of way, have you seen what Edificio El Ancla have done, completely blocked the path with stacks of blocks and materials, they shouldn't be allowed to do that!!

This is the proposed peaceful demo posted on Facebook by Lynn Hughes:

"I would like to draw your attention to a peaceful meeting I am arranging on Monday morning at 11 am to highlight the lack of ramps for wheelchairs , mobility scooters , prams and pushchairs to meet at the roundabout near cafe 1919 where we will walk up the sea front. Hopefully the bulletin will write a short piece about the lack of ramps .. Even if they temp put some ramps up to help the situation then that would be good . How many shops and restaurants along the front are feeling the pinch of it .. This all started because I wanted to go shopping but I was unable to get up and down the kerbs so what happened ??? I didn't spend my money in the local shops but have now bought online ... Who's loosing out and why ? Please please could we have as much support as possible to show we are disgruntled at the lack of sympathy to people who are not fortunate to be able to walk up the sea front .. Come on all you mums please come along with your prams and pushchairs even if they are empty because your child is at school ... We need to voice our opinion .. See you at 11 on Monday .. I have my doubts that Mrs Hughes is going about her, and other people, with the same problem, which I completely understand, in the right way.

I believe some patience is called for before "peaceful" demonstrations (meetings), organised by members of the foreign community, are called for.

May I also enquire about whom it has been approved ?

I expect to receive a few unlikes for this post !

As many of you know my Colin uses a mobility scooter and he feels that as the council posted on FB yesterday ( see my post #747 ) they should be given the chance to do this work before any protests take place.

and again its more negativity, although I haven't heard a valid reason why the didn't install the drop curbs as they went along anyway!!

That's fair enough. Let's hope that the council live up to their word and gets it sorted quickly.
