Hi Molt, you seem to have your ear to the ground.

Whats the position now along the front ?all work finished ? all temporary fencing away ?all trees planted ? all concrete surfaces finished off ? all rubble & dust brushed up ?

I bet no, no, no, no, .I hope that I am pleasantly surprised.

They have been given extra time until the end of May to finish these outstanding items I believe

you mean they overran again & yet again this has been authorised ?

Has anyone in p.p. ever heard of penalty clauses. perhaps the contract was organised by the same people who operate the contracts award for the beach !!!!!

Or God forbid, the people who are trying to decide where to build the high speed train to Birmingham and whether to build an extra runway at Heathrow airport.

I am not sure I am allowed, if you search for Punt Informatiu you will find it on their web page, or search FB to find it.

Thanks, found it on Facebook.

Basically says that all that is left to do ( irony is not my strong point ) is to clean up, paint the road markings and build elevated pedestrian crossings, for which the council has put aside 20.000 euros.

But here is the interesting part.

Next year, ie this November, they will start laying the cobble stones from the roundabout up to Avda Paris, but MAY CARRY ON up to the Llenaire roundabout depending on how fast and, presumably, good it looks.

In other words, the whole stretch will be "pedestrian".

In regards to the sea side walls, they are going to be pulled down and rebuilt, the seating replaced by new ones FACING the sea and positioned on the pavement and not as part of the wall.

PS I´m only the messenger : )

Molt

I feel like i am having to stick up for them which I am not, but I am just relaying what I read on FB and other places. They have completed all the construction work and are just finishing oft the resin coat and working on the kerbs and extra crossings, people moan if they carry on and finish these bits and would moan if the left them unfinished, they cant win with some people!!

the whole organisation bit was pathetic. The result may be ok possibly very good but not the manner in which it was achieved.

That is your opinion, but I am afraid I can´t agree with it knowing that the company who took over in January, due to the first one not being up to it, completed it more or less on schedule, even after starting nearly a month after they should have.

Just to put things in perspective, and although it has nothing to do with this project, the 2nd and 4th largest construction companies in the world are Spanish. The first British one is 6th.

Which one did this job then??

The 2nd or the 4th??

Because if it wasn't one of them it seems to me to be totally irrelevant.

Molt you seem to have a great knowledge about everything but never answer a direct question when asked

My point is that it tires me to read negative comments about Spanish companies and Spanish ways of doing things when we are guests in their country. They are by no means perfect, but neither are we. When we start building our own nuclear power stations and aircraft carriers and run our own airports, then we can start to give other people advise, but until then I think the best thing is to shut up enjoy the view.

Yes Mr Molt maybe it's time to shut up and enjoy the view.

This thread has just had over 100.000 views. Congratulations from me ( if I may :) ) to Rioja who started it.

For many years with only a few exceptions this has been a friendly and informative forum, recently however some posts have become very personal, can we not just accept that we all have different views and agree to disagree?

I have asked several times for people to agree to disagree unfortunately some feel that they must have the last word :(.

I have the last word its...Zyzzyva. Some sort of insect I'm told, look it up if you like its a real word.
