I am baffled. The line on the sea side is a continuous one and seems to be wider than the one on the land side which is a dotted one.

Of course the sea side one is full of parked cars, so at the moment it looks like the bicycle lane will be on the land side.

Parking spaces for taxis have been reserved next to the park on the land side, which doesn't make sense as bicycles will have to pull over into the traffic to get past.

Surely this can't be so ?

Looks just like the cycle lanes in Dublin. Full of parked cars and delivery vans. ;)

The continuous lane is definitely the cycle lane and cars aren't meant to move over the continuous line, let alone stop or park on it.

I very much doubt that this is the width of the bidirectional cycle lanes as per the plan. On the webcam it looks narrower than the dashed line parking lane.

There should also be bicycle pictograms on it, cycle lane signage and in this case no stopping signs for cars. As it's only a temporary fix for the season some of those things might not happen before phase 2.

The land side is definitely the parking lane with the end lines at the side roads and at the zebra crossing.
So the taxi rank would be on the correct side.

How this is meant to work during the season with cars and delivery vans pulling in to stop/unload/park on the beach side (especially Tamarells), without constant police presence, is everyone's guess.

The sea side ( bicycle ? ) lane is 2,10 mts wide, the land side ( car ? ) lane is 1,90 wide.

The painting on the sea side still hasn't been finished.

Just looked at the plans again and the bidirectional cycle lane is displayed as being 2.0m throughout and along the sea side in all the images.

The parked cars on the webcam view give the impression that the cycle lane is narrower than the parking markings.
But I wouldn't doubt MdR's measurements ;)

Hopefully the completed sea side painting will make things clearer for everyone.

Just walked along the front, why are 3 cars parked on the wrong side, unbroken white line and no parking signs, do these people have a licence? Cant moan about cyclists going the wrong way if car drivers flout the rules.

I think that although the lines are painted the signs and on road markings have yet to be done, maybe this will be done next week when all will be clarified, just my opinion ;).

Certainly there are no parking signs out on the sea side this morning and giving Monday as a date for painting. I agree it will all be revealed when signage complete.

Looks like new rubbish bins along the front on the webcam

new picture from the town hall of the new bike lane

La primera línia del Port de Pollença ja disposa d'un nou carril bici que va de la zona de Ports i connecta amb el carril bici que va de Llenaire fins a Alcúdia.
The first line of the port de pollença already has a new bike lane that was in the area of ports and connects with the bike lane that goes from llenaire until alcúdia.

Puerto Pollensa residents finding bus noise and fumes intolerable » Balearics » News » Majorca Daily Bulletin -
As part of the pedestrianisation scheme in Puerto Pollensa, the resort's public transport planning has had to be altered. This has meant that the bus stop, until recently by the tourist office and yacht club roundabout, has been relocated to the Roger de Flor street behind the church: there are in fact two stops - one for the local service to Alcudia and one for the Palma service.

The first rumblings of discontent regarding this move had to do with the fact that there was no bus shelter for the Palma bus. There now is, albeit that the number of waiting passengers spread out and have no shelter. The latest has to do with noise and fumes from the buses. ...

...

The town hall, meantime, has been contacted by residents as well, and the Bulletin was informed today by councillor Andres Nevado Rodríguez, the town hall delegate for Puerto Pollensa, that he is aware of residents' concerns. Contrary to information given to Lorraine Hannen at the local municipal office, Sr. Nevado confirms that the bus stops on Roger de Flor are not intended to be permanent. He says that in two to three months there will be a definitive draft of the project to locate the bus stops next to the Formentor bypass, a solution which had been suggested some time ago.

Hi to those in PP.

Has all work finished now along the Playa or is there some unfinished business. ?

The bike lane, which goes from before the Llenaire "roundabout" up to the entrance to the Stay Restaurant, now has a solid yellow line painted alongside the white one, with the odd bicycle symbol painted in the middle.

This should make it clear to all and sundry that no vehicle parking is allowed all along the front ( sea side ) of the paseo.

A solid yellow line has been painted on the land side from Avda Paris up to the Port roundabout, so no parking or stopping allowed either.

A few of the original pedestrian crossings need a new lick of paint to prove they are still pedestrian crossings and not just speed bumps.

Apart from that, I would guesstimate that it is mostly finished.

Currently posting from la llonja bar. I think the pedestrianisation is great.

Yes, it could have been quicker and yes there have been hiccups along the way but I think it is fab. The surface has a kind of lived in look which I think is nice and already the kids have been skidding their bikes along leaving rubber marks. No matter what surface you put down you will not stop this!!!

The road from Paris to the roundabout is the perfect width and is lovely and quiet. The effect is that traffic is now forced to the bypass. Great!

The port is bathed in sunshine and is looking great through the beer goggles.

I agree with your comments about the new paseo and your choice of bar, which is, in my opinion, one of the best in town.

Cheers !

Seems to work very well looking at the webcam.

I'd like one of those solid yellow lines along the cycle paths in Dublin ... ;)
Not that it would make much of a difference ...

Unfortunately, the camper van community won´t be very happy with the new arrangement, as they used to park opposite the "dog" beach, and also further towards town, which now has the bicycle lane opposite it.

Once it gets busier it'll show how practical the current implementation is. Parking, not just for the camper vans, could become an issue.

On a positive note, it seems that the lycra cyclists have also taken to the cycling lane.
Just saw a few whizzing past Tamarells on the webcam ...

I honestly can´t see it being major. Maybe on Sundays and will mainly affect locals who come up from surrounding areas, and who don´t, generally, spend much money locally.
