Semi-Pedestrianisation of the front line in PP.

Arrived yesterday, love it love it love it, cyclists off the pavements less cars traveling along the front a lot better for the kids, and oldies.
Now the pavements have been used and newness removed you wouldn't now the difference looks like any other only wide walkway the only give away no chewing gum yet.

Always expect to see people parked and stopping in the wrong places so dont even notice who they are !

Is the cycle lane 2 way ?? Is it wide enough ??

Yes it is 2 way and wide enough but not for 2 or 3 abreast, see the the photo i posted on post # 1054 .

Why can't they tell the drivers to turn off their engines if there are more than 5 people waiting to board the bus?, OK it won't cure the problem but it would help surely .

Maybe it's because of the air conditioning not working otherwise or just general habit of the bus drivers?
After all, they never has to do it at the roundabout location.
Though I agree, they should turn off the engines when stopping at main stops or with a number of people boarding.

Maybe a number of complaints to TIB would have a positive effect?

Being able to stop on the cycle lane will be a great help to the drivers, and also, don´t lets forget, to the passengers, who will most probably have been travelling for several hours, and want to get into their rooms as soon as possible.

I think this is totally unacceptable, all road users should abide by the law. Time for the police to make their presence felt along the front, no warnings just a few hefty fines for the law breakers, it's the only way this system will ever work.

The bike lane, which goes from before the Llenaire "roundabout" up to the entrance to the Stay Restaurant, now has a solid yellow line painted alongside the white one, with the odd bicycle symbol painted in the middle.

This should make it clear to all and sundry that no vehicle parking is allowed all along the front ( sea side ) of the paseo.
A solid yellow line has been painted on the land side from Avda Paris up to the Port roundabout, so no parking or stopping allowed either.

A few of the original pedestrian crossings need a new lick of paint to prove they are still pedestrian crossings and not just speed bumps.

Apart from that, I would guesstimate that it is mostly finished.

There's no stopping on the cycle lane, be it car or bus.

Maybe they have to put a few bollards down along the cycle lane across from the hotels to enforce it.
Or a few more yellow lines?

They should have really added bus set down and pick up areas along the land side in front or close to hotels where needed, but probably didn't want to remove any more car parking spaces.

Nearly quoted myself there, but it seems a few yellow lines have indeed now being applied just to the right of the Romantic.
One with a wheelchair pictogram.
More isn't visible on the webcam.
Could well be a bus stopping zone?

Don't think the cycle lane is meant to be used both ways (painted arrow points towards Alcudia). It's there for those who wish to ride against the traffic coming into town. The rest will use the road as normal so seems pretty sensible. Hopefully when the cycle clubs get familiar with the system it will be used mainly by locals and few holidaymakers.

Exactly, that is what I was getting to. If there is no available space to stop ( not park ) to drop off passengers who are bringing spending money to the Port, then they won´t be very impressed.

It´s either that or double park. I´m pretty sure the odd cylist won´t mind, especially in the heat of summer when there are very few about and mostly on the land side pavement, in the shade.

Most, if not all, cyclists use it for going both ways, for which, I would imagine, it was designed.

No, the cycle lane is off limits.
