I like the seating. I think it brings a touch of modern class and interest to the front. A lot of people find change difficult to adjust to. Once used to it I think it will be accepted. I remember people being upset by the first square block type house in llenaire. They are now normal. I think this seating will soon become normal to. It's just different but I think it looks great. As for the pavements well they look so much better than before as well. Ok a bit of dirt and the odd crack but new visitors to the port wouldn't be aware. I don't think all this negativity is doing the port and favours to be honest. Everyone entitled to their opinion but all these posts? It is as it is and in my view a good improvement.

I agree the new 'seats' look like modern sculptures but has anyone actually seen anybody sitting on them yet - we were there last week just after they were installed so maybe they are proving a great source of comfort and seating by now;) Change is great if it is an improvement - such as the new wide pavements which are so much better - but we just hate the concrete blocks. We stayed in La Font so you have a very clear view of the properties on the mountain and grey concrete ones just stick out like sore thumbs. The latest house on the hill is just beautiful - similar colour to the mountain and surrounded by similar supporting walls with trees and shrubs somehow planted along the wall - just fabulous and blends in perfectly with its surroundings:)

This is typical of pavement laying here in Mallorca. The same thing happened with the new paths around Gommar.( which have now been sorted) They don't leave enough gaps in the tiled paths. These have risen in the heat and taken the concrete with it.

I have seen this happen many times in the factory where i used to work, also in the Pollensa Park Hotel and what was O Lume .

That's OK then everything as usual is wonderful in the garden of PP !

That is not what I said or meant . Just that it is a common occurrence.

Apologies lollipop I'm just so fed up with the quality of the pedestrianisation and this was an inevitability that was always going to happen.

This happened on our patio here in the UK - after a single hot day (30 degrees) last summer a whole area lifted up - I guess workmanship can be shoddy the world over. Admittedly in Mallorca they should be more used to expecting hot weather...

The work on phase 1 has not been signed off or paid for and won't be until all faults have been rectified, the ajuntament is also holding on to a bond from the contractors, so maybe they are not as incompetent as we thought after all ;).

I think the incompetence is the fact that these faults weren't rectified at the time.
The cracks have been there for weeks as have boot marks, holes, gaps and other areas of poor workmanship.
Why didn't the ajuntament check and rectify as the works were done?
No excuses IMO.

Stable door, horse, bolting and shutting come to mind!!

We were told this by our neighbour last week ( but I didn't like to say ;))

Surely though it just shows how incompetent they have been by not project managing it properly and dealing with problems as they arose?

I think you have missed my point which was that the job has not been paid for and won't be until all defects are rectified.

Having just got back from 11 days in PP I can say that I am delighted with all the changes. Our apartment is based in Llenaire so we got the chance to walk the full length and the wider pavements and one way traffic was a joy. With two young children on scooters it was lovely to be able to stroll to the pine walk not having to worry about them veering into the road or constantly having to tell them off for riding near pedestrians. We noticed the police tape where the pavement had buckled but it wasn't a problem and unfortunately often happens when work has just been completed as materials settle etc.

I also like the new seats (glass half full and all that). We all commented on how nice they look and create a nice area to sit if needs be, they are only is the much wider sections of pavement so didn't create any issues. I also liked the grey lounger chairs that appeared over looking the inlet and saw people sitting on them most days. As for children walking on them that would happen no matter what you put there, look at the beach side with the wall and benches, children are always walking along and on the benches. Unfortunately children like to climb and balance precariously on things. I am sure if there were signs stating no children to stand on the benches most parents would adhere but does it really matter? We aren't talking muddy shoes over there just sandy dusty and the breeze off the sea will take care of most of that.

We loved our break and all said it was one of the best, not necessarily because of the changes but they certainly helped. I think the more pressing issue than the woks was lack of beds and brollies but that's a discussion for another forum, once they went in I was also over the moon to see beds all the way up to La Roca (and what a better position that is in!) and it is lovely to see the Llenaire end of the town getting some love.

Sorry for my essay but wanted to convey that as a regular visitor we had no complaints at all (we even got the chance to meet Sparky one evening and tell her what a good job she does for what must be a thankless task sometimes!!).

I don't think so.
My point is that the contractors should be able to have their FULL payment ON TIME with the works having been properly supervised and completed along the way.

However, I do totally agree with the above post about the obvious and long overdue benefits.

been here last 3 weeks & waiting for things to be caught up & get back on track.Sadly there appears to be no catch up process. The front has never been brushed, sand everywhere, the concrete not been washed, the improvement in beach services has not materialised. It appears to me that there is far less "free area" of the beach available to people.rapidly loosing love with P.P.

I wonder am I alone in my view ?

I have heard they have only held back 25% of the money. When we had our recent extension done we paid in installments after completion of each stage ...and only when we were happy with the work. Once the money's been paid it's very difficult to ensure any defects will be rectified.

Totally with you pinaret86.

It's looking dreadful and getting worse by the day. I took more photos yesterday of new major cracks that have appeared and the concrete crumbling where it joins the sand coloured strips
