No looks like the cycle lane will be where the beach side parking is now

Right ignore what I said, just looking again, the important diagram is the last one planol5, and if you look at the section G which is a slice across the road on the stretch in front of Bar Mombasa, the path is listed as being 3.5m, which is about 10ft, the path currently isn't that wide is it? so we can assume that the beach side path will stay the same, there will be a 2m cycle why as previous post, a 5m single direction road, which leaves the extra 3m saved by making the road narrower which they will extend the shop side path, which i would guess would double it!! Maybe

Click on the picture for larger view, and if you look at the car it is coming this way isn't it towards Alcudia!

There are improvements to the footpaths 'where space is available' between JuanXX111 and La Gola if you look at the plans carefully. New car parking doesn't start until after La Gola travelling in the Alcudia direction. As the 'cross-section' (see SWS post above) indicates, the cycle lane is on the beachward side of the road but then we do have the wide footpath between the cycle lane and the beach wall.
You need to go back to Sparky's post (P.2 look for post no. 17 on right hand side). Then click on the link to the drawings. Choose 'Planol 4 pdf' and once it has opened, zoom to say, 80% or more to see things clearly. Look for FULL 7 (bottom of three plans) to see the area from Juan XX111 to La Gola. Look for Plan FULL 6 for the next section along from La Gola, and so on. All will be revealed - no guessing needed!

This has just been posted on the Ajuntament FB page :-

Avui el conseller de Turisme i el batle de Pollença han signat el conveni que permetrà l'execució i el finançament del projecte de semipeatonalització de la primera línia del Port de Pollença.
Today the Minister of tourism and the Mayor of Pollença have signed an agreement that will allow the implementation and financing of the project of semipeatonalització of the first line of Port de Pollença. (Translated by Bing)

Believe it or not folks, it must be on this time, because the people that live in the house 2 doors along from El Ancla ( covered in bougainvillea ) have shown me papers sent to them from the council, detailing the effect it will have on the frontage outside their property. Who would have thought it after all the years of giving us hope., it seems we are finally going to see the real deal.:)

Think I saw somewhere starting in November finishing in March!!

Let's hope they get it right then and looking good after all this time. Hope while they're doing it they replace and resurface all the broken pavement slabs in one neutral colour instead of yellows, reds and natural ones.

Think it will really smarten up the front and make it a much more desirable part of the town.

Bring it on!!

Pretty sure the works will be done well (based on other areas such as the main square) and that the result along the sea front will be a definite improvement of the area from Joan XX111 along to Llenaire. Should be good for the various businesses and their clients.

This from the Majorca Daily Bulletin :-

Better late than never in Pollensa!

Pollensa.—So long in the offing (47 years if you want to be really accurate), the project to pedestrianise the frontline in Puerto Pollensa is due to start in November.
It will of course only be a semi-pedestrianisation, but half a pedestrianisation is better than none, one supposes. The half-pedestrianisation will be between Llenaire and the yacht club roundabout where it will meet up with the full pedestrianisation of the Anglada Camarasa prom.
Pollensa Town Hall is in for three-quarters of a million, with the Council of Majorca and the tourism ministry coughing up the rest of the 1.7 million, the ministry, which had been the stumbling block, having found 600 grand of loose change knocking around after all.

Hallelujah. Mind you, about 2.5 million Euros in total? Should be something impressive!

Look forward to the end result. It's going to be such a massive improvement IMO.

Read in the ultima hora that politicians and their friends have been sentenced to over 264 years in prison between them for fraud corruption etc in relation to public funds so good to see that projects are now getting fulfilled. Have to say, the current mayor seems to making a lot of progress with improvements in both the old town and PP. Fingers crossed tHis continues to be the case:)

Does anyone know if the council will be upgrading Av Llenaire which is still full of Palm Trees stumps and just generally looking tatty?
I used to think it was one of the best roads in the Port!!!!!!!

Agreed, I empty my rubbish in one of the streets off it, (Carrrer Codonyer, as they have recycling facilities rather than just bins), and often have commented how such a wide and impressive road looks so lacklustre now.

Not part of the plans, but they must be concerned longer term. If a full pedestrianisation went ahead, they must be a possible route for traffic diverted away from the beach and back onto the ring-road.

Thats where I empty my bins too
The open area there looks better than Av Llenaire now!
We pay for landscaping outside our apartments i can't understand how other apartments and houses are quite happy to have verges that look so tatty when it costs so little to tidy it all up
As a route back onto the ring road the council need to make it look nice again for tourism if nothing else

Have just read in the TOTN that the work which should have started next month has been delayed and won't now begin until January :rolleyes:.

Why does that not surprise me!
