this will be our second visit of the year but much more relaxing. First visit was half term with the grandchildren. Anyway, we are going to the hotel ponent playa at cala ferrera. Haven't stayed here before, has anyone? be interested in your views.
Question from husband. Has anyone been able to visit the isle of cabrera where the french were imprisoned during the napolionic wars? Military history is his thing!:

Hllo there and welcome to this very interesting and fun forum. I think I am right in saying that the Ponent Playa is in Paguera - the other side of the Island and a long way from Puerto Pollensa here in the North.
Regarding trips over to Cabrera there are daily boat departures from Colonia San Jordi. Suggest you look at www.excursionsacabrera.com and I am sure you can make a booking for you and your husband to enjoy the peaceful unihabitated Island for a day trip. If the website is not helpful then there is a telephone number for information. 00 34 971 64 90 34 and I would imagine that they speak english.

thanksJMD40 for your reply. the address given in the brochure is cala ferrera but we know it is near cala d'or and not that far from another favourite place of ours which is cala mondrago. There are only two hotels and a nice beach here and safe swimming, can't wait

I stayed there many years ago, and it has probably completely changed but the only thing I would say is make sure u get a room on the upper floors. (Built on a hill, so reception is on the middle floors and rooms are above and below)
When we arrived ( in the middle of the night) we were put in a room which I felt was damp and being on the grond level, u had no privacy as hotels' organised activities were right outside our window.
We managed to get a room change and had a good holiday.

And , like you, we loved Cala Mondrago.
Have you tried a wee trip to Porto Petro, its probably changed to...but it was really beautiful.

when we stayed at cala mondrago it was at the hotel condemar, no evening entertainment so after dinner everyone sat on the terrace and had a good natter! It is certainly a peaceful place to be. I was a lot fitter then I swam round the bay to the other beach Happy days!!!
