A forest fire broke out in the Coll de Síller area of Puerto Pollensa at around 6.15pm on Sunday.

The fire is in a similar area to one in December 2017, when some sixty homes had to be evacuated.

...

There appear to be two fronts. One, the less risky, is moving slowly towards Cala Sant Vicenç. The other, potentially more dangerous, is spreading more rapidly towards Puerto Pollensa.

Fire fighters battle the blaze all night

A forest fire which broke out in Pollensa on Sunday night was finally brought under control in the early hours of this morning.

The high winds made the job of the fire brigade even more difficult. Scores of fire fighters and local police were involved in the operation.

(the fire is looking very close to the buildings on the first picture in particular)

This has been reported in the UH -

The head of the Forest Management Service of the Ministry of the Environment, Luis Berbiela, confirmed on IB3 Ràdio that the fire was caused "undoubtedly" by the hand of man . «It is still too early to know the causes, but the fire has been started. At that time there were no lightning strikes in the area, it was due to anthropic causes
.

That’s appalling - I hope they find the culprit and punish him/her severely 😡

It has also been reported that it was started by a fallen medium voltage cable .

It is the pass in the hillside behind Habitat/Duva complex, a well known, well trod footpath from PP to Cala San Vicente.
