I think ray means the storms a few year ago when a hurricane caused a lot of damage along the sea front. It blew down a lot of trees including 5 of the 6 pine trees that The Sis Pins was named after, and also destroyed the terrace on the beach in front of the Bahia. Not sure if its true but we were told the terrace had been built without planning permission so once it was destroyed by the storm they couldn't re build it. Great shame as it was the perfect spot for a long lazy lunch or romantic dinner.

spot on Debz and correct about the illegal build

bahia

Thanks for the info ,roll on 28th Mayo...........cheers ..Slipalong & Lola:D

Sis Pins

It's a bit worrying when PWC say that the Sis Pins has nothing to do with them or the administration of The Globespan Group when www.sispins.com takes you to their administration website!

The Sis Pins was/is owned by The Globespan Group plc's 100% subsidiary Viajes Globespan SA which happens to have it's registered office at the Sis Pins, Anglada Camarasa, 77!

No doubt PWC will not be out of pocket for their knowledgable, efficient and expedient administration of the group and its remaining assets.

Cant believe La singala has gone. I have been there every October for the last 6 years and last year was told occupancy had been higher than hotels in rest of the port. Does anyone have suggestions for a small convenient hotel in Puerto Pollensa - somewhere off pine walk close to La Singala? I know its asking a lot. Will miss all the staff who worked there tremendously. Lyn

Just heard that the Sis Pins is to reopen in May owned by a Dutch company....on the Grapevine type of thing !!!!!!

Don't know about Bigbob's info....but this was in the Majorca Bulletin yesterday:

Globespan collapse leaves Pollensa hotels high and dry
STAFF REPORTER
THE bankruptcy earlier this year of Scottish tour operator Globespan has grounded more than just a fleet of aircraft - three tourist hotels in Pollensa won’t be able to open their doors this season as they are owned by Globespan’s branch in Spain, Creixent.
The three-star Hotel Sis Pins in the Port of Pollensa, built in 1953, was acquired through Creixent in 2000 as were the Xingala hotel and the Alexia apartments in the same resort. The Sis Pins had made a name for itself over the years as a favourite spot for famous faces. The collapse has prompted 25 hostelry workers who have been employed during the high season each year at the three establishments to claim compensation for redundancy.

The workers were at an arbitration tribunal yesterday seeking an agreement acceptable to all parties concerned.Creixent says it is still possible to open on 1st May but won’t commit to giving the workers a contract with fixed dates to which they had been accustomed in previous years. Creixent has until 28th April to come up with a viable alternative.

I walked past Sis Pins yesterday and there is no way i can see it opening on Saturday, it is still boarded up :(.

My uncle phoned me yesterday to say he is coming over mid May,and had tried to book Sis Pins he had contacted them and was told they are panning to open end of May

That is great news - must say the paseo looked a bit desolate with Sis Pins all boarded up! It's a lovely place to sit and have a coffee and watch the world go by as well.

Does anyone know who to contact to book Sis Pins when it does eventually open?

Is anything happening with La Singala does anyone know?

Really interested in any finding booking info on SIS PINS for this year

According to the DB the Sis Pins won't be opening this year, with no sign of it opening think we should bow to the inevitable. Fingers crossed it will be up and running next year.

Spoke to a girl I know who is contracted by Sis Pins and all she knows is that someone is interested in buying and wants to open.

Anyone else heard the rumour that the manager of the Daina is interested in Sis Pins...

Seems that Sis Pins will be finally reopened 12th June under new management but maintainig the same staff.

I am in Puerto Pollensa & have just passed the Sis Pins with a very excited staff standing outside. The hotel has been bought by a man from Birmingham a Mr Round and will open on the 12 June. La Singala is not involved in the deal but is in the process of being sold.
I spoke to Antonia & Matteo, they were going in to start work. The hotel can be booked at hotelsispins.com
Wonderful news!

Absolutely brilliant news.............walked past there several times while out in PP last week and each time shook my head in disbelief that this place was all closed up.

Back out in June so look forward to seeing customers enjoying themselves.

By the way, Does anyone know who "Mr. Pound" is ???

(And don't say the owner of "Poundland" shops !!!)
