Smiddy...Sad news.

I was extremely saddened to hear the tragic news about Smiddy. I have been reading his posts for many years & felt that I did know him, despite not meeting him.
My sincere condolences to his family.

What an absolutely wonderful tribute this Forum has provided, with so many posts from friends and people who never met him.

This is such a powerful message, and one which I dearly hope his family can take a small comfort from.

I have been in contact with Smiddy's wife, she and the family are very grateful for all the lovely comments on here, it is giving them comfort to read them.
They are planning to come out to PP and will be having a small gathering of friends followed by scattering Brian's ashes next week.

Such sad news. Smiddy was one of the first people to welcome me to this forum with very kind words when I very nervously made my first post. I've always enjoyed his posts and will miss them hugely. My thoughts are with his family and we'll raise a glass to him when we're in PP next month.

Like everyone else we were saddened by the news of Smiddy's passing. We were in PP when we heard the news. We remember meeting Smiddy and his lovely family in Citrus a couple of years ago. Our thoughts are with his family.

Just got back from Puerto Pollensa so it is the first opportunity to express our sadness at the news. We were in O'Lume for our anniversary on the evening of the 15th which Jaime knew, he did us the courtesy of not telling us the news until the end of the evening, needless to say we were shocked. We raised our glasses and drank a toast to Smiddy. We met him & his wife a couple of years ago in O'Lume and spent some time discussing the merits of our respective football teams and PP. R.I.P Smiddy.

I have just learned of this news today as had not been on forum much & had not seen the thread. My family & I have had the pleasure of meeting & eating with mr & mrs Smiddy on a few occasions & can honestly say he was one of the nicest guys we have ever met. He will be sorely missed by us & many, many others I'm sure. We will make a point of raising a glass to him & his beloved football team the next time we return to o'lume.

We had the honour of being invited by Smiddy's family to a celebration of his life in his beloved O Lume this afternoon.Yes there were a few tears but more importantly many laughs, which i am certain was exactly what he would have wanted. Thanks to my dear pal i was introduced to a new drink ... a very quaffable red cava which would have gone well with his new red shoes (sorry guys, a private joke) .

Brian, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten, sleep tight my friend x .

Very sad news.Belated condolences to his family.Didnt know Smiddy but will quietly raise a glass to him when in the port next week and make sure i soak up every last minute with my girls in our favourite place....this aint no rehearsal
