Speeding fines

Does anyone know the procedure for paying a speeding fine after you get home? A friend of ours (honest!) has just received a fine which must have come from a roadside camera. He doesn't remember speeding but the document does not state location only the date. My question is should he pay it? 100 euros. I think I read somewhere that there is now a reciprocal arrangement with DVLC so that if he doesn't pay it will result in a UK fine. Any advice or information would be welcome (for my friend - honest!)

The document must state the time and date also it will have the road number eg MA19 . There will also be a photograph. If the vehicle was a hire car then the duty of the car hire company is to forward the details onto the police. Not sure how you would go about paying the fine in the UK. But in Spain you can pay the fine in any major bank with the paperwork provided..

I think someone posted about this before and am pretty sure that if you are back in the UK you can pay buy credid/debit card.

We were giving a speeding fine two years ago. It took 5 months before it was passed onto us via the car firm. We were able to pay on line and still managed to get a 50% discount for doing so in the allotted time from when we received notification.
You must pay these fines. They have all your details from the car hire firms, and you WILL get blacklisted if fines are not paid!
As there are now more and more cameras being fitted, it really is a way of driving to keep a wary eye on the speedometer!

I would want to see the picture before paying.

Is this document from the police or hire car company ?

Also check which website you are supposed to enter your card details at as just because someone receives a letter in the post asking to enter credit card details on a website does not mean you should just do it without checking out the website first to see if it is genuine or a phishing site.
