To buy new, as Pollensa says next to the out of town Eroski between PP and P, and also opposite the Eroski. They have a good selection there and I bought 2 fold up sun loungers for the beach from there last year. They also do chairs etc.

Yes, we figured that the one's on the beach were built to last so we went to Plomer's on the road between PP and Pollensa. From memory Euro 100 each, but after 2 years out on the roof they still look good and are very well made. Also, the it looks like the plastic material can be easily replaced.

Thanks for all this information. Think I will try the Jiff and the car polish is a brilliant idea. I have spoken to our housekeeper this evening and I don't think the actual chairs are that bad from what she has said.
I think it is all the chair cushions and parasols etc - a real pain as I bought really thick padded ones which cost quite a lot of money. Don't think there is much I can do about those - unless anyone know differently?

I personally would avoid white garden furniture as it does discolour and show any marks very easily. We went for a nice green colour and very smart it looks too - had them now for probably 5 years and still looking good.

The make is Nardi - a german manufacturer. Very strong and well made.

Why not try soaking the cushions in a strong solution of "vanish" in the bath.

For the PVC cleaning Astonish Grime Blast UPVC cream cleaner is excellent.

Look for a supplier with free or reasonable delivery

not as abrasive as Jiff type cream.

If the Jiff cream leaves lots of really small scratches these will fill with dirt so will look dirty quickly.

The astonish stuff does lovely job on PVC windows, use a white cloth such as old white towels or tea cloths. not tissue or kitchen roll as needs a soft cloth to absorb the dirt and be slightly abrasive etc.

Sparky Vanish is a good idea - do you think it would work on the black damp marks? Anything is worth a try before throwing out. I assume Vanish is available in the supermarkets?

Mark, is the Astonish only available by order or can it be bought easily?

nardi is italian outside furniture, & is seriously good kit

ours is left outside in all weathers - uk - & is still as good as new ( & yes, we do get prodigious sunshine hours in Worthing, although not PP temps)

Its not just the colouring - or fading of it - that decided us to buy new, but also the fact that they have got quite brittle. Thats when they get a little dangerous with the possibility of bits snapping off and sharp edges. The only way to avoid that I suppose is to have them under cover during the winter.
I wasn't too worried about buying new cushions every season though.
Debs, loved the Cilit Bang shouting idea, I intend to use that on the shutters next week! LOL!

I would be wary of using ciff or cilit, just feel they are too abrasive. Try MER... it is a cleaner and polish, bit more expensive but worth it.

Also, re cushions. What about running up some covers ? if the only prob is cosmetic... then removable, washable covers will save u money in the long run.

No need to revert to drastic measures like sewing you can definitely buy covers from Plomer and also the chinese shops in Pollensa and PP

Lots of good suggestions/comments here. This is what really attracts me to this great site !!

Mark is right, Cif/Jiff is a bit abrasive and his suggestion of Astonish looks a good one having read it. Any plastic/upvc will be susceptible to scratches mind, it depends if you want to fork out on a specialist product or not.

My suggestion of the car polish will certainly help in the long run though and sure, a better quality one will always do a better job but sun beds are sun beds after all !!

Thank you all so much for the suggestions. I will buy Astonish and take out with me. Love the car polish idea and will certainly give it a try as can do no harm but could prolong life.

Its the cushions which are a real pain. Miriam I can't even sew a button on so as much as I like your suggestion of making covers I'm afraid that will not work for me.

I'm not sure Vanish will work but will give a go before disposing reluctantly of my new but black cushions - unless anyone has an other ideas??

You can get a spray from Mercadona called Oxigeno Activo,this is very good and did remove some mould from a curtain that had some on. Might be worth a try.
