Swimming Pool Update

Back from our visit to PP and just thought I would update you on the pools we used, Used the Flora pool on several occasions without any problems we always bought drinks but nobody seemed to mind. Went along to the Bonanca twice, bit of a walk from where we were staying but again a lovely pool and the staff were really friendly. Used the community pool twice, opening times for the public are 1600-2000 weekdays and allegedly 1000-1400 at weekends but the weekend we visited it was Pollensa Fiesta so the pool was shut. At 1.5 euros per person it is well worth a visit, bracing certainly but not at all busy. My kids were fascinated watching the young spanish children getting swimming lessons but apart from them there were only 4-5 others in. Give my youngest plenty of time to practise his swimming not just splashing around. Thanks again for all the advice before we went.

Were exactly was the pool. we kept looking for it but couldnt find it Is the pool an open air pool or covered. we stayed opposite the school around the corner from you but we couldnt see an open air pool

Hi Pat, sorry but the Community Pool is not open air, it is the covered building next to the sports centre. Sounds awful that it isn't open air but it is actually really good if you want to do some serious swimming. Not sure how I would feel about using it in the winter as it is unheated!!! Jackie

Cheers. I had seen a photo of an open air pool on one of the sites i had visited, we actually stayed opposite the sports centre. I had seen that pool but was looking for an open air one. Thanks for that, might see you there next year.

Guys,
Reading this old thread someone commented that the pool isn't being heated 'yet'. Does anyone know if the've started heating this pool at all (or whether there is a heated pool in the area)?

The pool is now heated,but at the moment it is cooler than in the winter. It is a lovely pool to swim in,but remember you need a hat.

Lollipop - Do you know if that is the rule in all the public pools in Pollensa?

This is the only public pool,there is a pool at Duva and you have to wear hats there as well.

I can only speak for P Park and Daina pools where hats are not obligatory.

Its only the inside heated pool at the Duva you need to wear hats, not the outside ones

I have just been reading all these old posts and to be honest think it is a bit of a cheek if you have booked an apartment without a pool, to expect to be able to use one in apartments where people have paid for the use of one in their rental costs! If a pool is essential for you, book an apartment that has a pool and pay the probable higher price or use the public one.

Tangofan, People who own apartments with pools would very much frown on people coming in and using the facilities, and our block has a notice up saying it is solely for the use of residents . However most of the hotels do not mind non residents using their pools as long as you buy drinks/ snacks while you are there.

The pool at the Rosa Blanca bar, opposite the Habitat apts, is open for anyone to use for the price of the odd drink.

Have to agree with Tangofan and debz. Owners also put out their own sun loungers for use of their clients and there would probably be a riot if other non clients used them all up!!

We are staying in an apartment opposite the sports stadium. Could you tell me what is actually in the stadium and can anyone be able to use it? Well, the Puerto Pollensa is also known as the Port de Pollenca. This resort has everything to be enjoyed by all the visitors, not only the swimming pool but all the scenery.

Agree 100% with Tango, if people want guaranteed swimming pools then pay the additional costs by renting a apartment that provides one, if you want a car you hire one, you don't hope someone lends you one!

Can't comment on hotels, but i must admit i would be a bit peeved if i'd paid to stay in one and a sunbed was un-available due to it being taken by non-residents, it must happen!

I doubt any of our members would be so cheeky as to use private pools, but as a owner of a apt with a fair size pool if it's not watched carefully it can become a nightmare. Plus it is by far the most expensive outlay.

Have to agree with you Smiddy you have to keep an eye on the pool.

We have seen people come in just to use the apartment pool - mainly spanish admittedly and we do ask them to leave.

In June, on our last day, the water has stopped working in our apartment and I was getting ready to have a shower at the outdoor poolside shower which is extremely cold ! So as you can imagine was not in the best of moods. Then I see 3 boys jump over the wall to come and use the pool - think they got the fright of their lives when i shouted at them piscina privada ! They ran away pretty quickly as they know they are not supposed to be doing it.

If hotels etc with bars offer use of their pool for the price of a drink then I see no problem with people using them. Presumably for these establishments it is causing no issues to their residents otherwise I sure they would not be doing it.

Airjacobs, do you mean the stadium in the port or Pollenca. At the port there is tennis,squash courts and also a pool. I believe there is an outside pool at the one in the town but have never used it. Hope this helps.
