We are booked in for the Ternelles Valley walk in the middle of next week. The Rother Walking Guide mentions car parking 400 metres before the gate; does anyone know if this is easy to find, limited and therefore difficult to access a space, etc.? We are not fast walkers, so would prefer to have as much time as possible in the valley.
Any other general advice would be welcome
Thanks

My memory is the parking is a tiny patch of wasteland on the left as you drive up the valley toward the gates....but I've not seen any other cars there but ours. We last did this two years ago. Best not to go up as far as the gates in your car, as it is a real problem turning!

My recollection is that the road is narrow with some passing places. If you look on Google maps (click on the link and choose Street View) there are some parked cars opposite a house (600m from the gate) but it may be private, Further on nearer Ternelles at some buildings (300m) Google Maps (click on the link) it shows a small car parked nearly off the road...not the best position.

Best option is probably to park on the outskirts of Pollensa near the Roman Bridge. About 1.7Km 25mins walking to the gate.

I remember it was a bit of a hike there and back in the time available.

Enjoy

Basically there are a few small places a few hundred meters back from the gate which are usually free ,if you pass the last house on the right the road starts to go uphill park where ever you can after the house, otherwise it is a long schlep from Pollenca.

Thanks for helpful replies. We are looking forward to a good walk.

Did the walk today. Excellent around the Castle area, but a lot of the walk up to that point is through pine woods which were pleasant but not stunning. 10 minutes past the castle, and the coastal views are very good. We returned from that point, but it probably continued with good coastal scenery.
Parking was easy at a right bend just before the last house; a square of ground on the left of the road, between concrete pillars with a chain that could be put across, but no indication that it was private, and others parked there without problem. We did have problems driving on the little road into the valley - several cars came the other way, and passing places were few. The return drive was easy.
We got the permit with no problem from the Town Hall on-line, and the guard on the gate was very pleasant. All in all, well worth doing.

Can anybody post the current link for the permit? The one I used last year doesn't seem to work any more

Castell del Rei

Does anyone know the current status of this walk?

The past couple of years the guard at the Ternelles gate has been adamant that you can't visit the castle itself, but I've noticed that a few walk guides, including the excellent Rother translated from the German, are saying that you can walk up to the entrance of the castle even if you can't go inside.

Last year there were very bold signs at the castle fork more or less saying 'do not pass'!

Any definitive knowledge out there?
