The Galeon Aparthotel/Bellamar Apartments.

From Ultima Hora today. Concern over the closure of two hotels in Puerto Pollensa, the Galeon and Capri. The article suggests that because of building works the Capri won't be opening this season and nor will Galeon because of ownership issues.

In PP last week and Galeon looking empty and forlorn and no activity, whilst Capri in the midst of a serious refurbishment. I'm not a Spanish builder, but IMHO I wouldn't expect Capri to be ready for the season. The place looks like it's being gutted.

Shame about Galeon - had a number of excellent fish meals there. Anyone know if management/staff/cooks have transferred to another establishment?

Hi Clinkham, i was told that the sale of the Galeon fell through because the purchasers did not want to take on the staff .

The Galleon is part of the Cabot group of hotels,same as the Pollensa Park ,I tried to book the Bellamar apartments which are also part of the Cabot group this season only to be told the Pollensa Park are not running these apartments this year.Does anyone know if the Bellamar is closed or under new ownership ?

We stayed in the hotel Romantic 3 weeks ago for a few days and had a few drinks at the bar each evening we got chatting to the barman - the hotel Romantic is also under the cabot group. I had read on the forum that the galeon had closed and we have previously stayed there so asked the barman what had happened to Galeon and the Bellamar he informed us that the cabot group do not actually own these properties but lease them from the owners for long term lease ie 10 year contracts anyway the lease had expired on galeon and bellamar and cabot group did attempt to renew the leases however the new terms ie costs were very high and way beyond any profit they would be able to make so they let them go ! very disappointing for all of us as clients and very silly of the owners as better to make some income than properties lying empty and in state of disrepair.
