Concern about the shortage of rainfall in Mallorca.
The rain can be seen in Mallorca. Currently, resources are guaranteed but both administrations and farmers showed concern at the lack of rainfall . The Meteorological Agency announced last week that the rainfall on the island in the fall were 19% lower than usual. To this we must add a very dry December (-98%).
This situation is reflected in the reservoirs Cuber and Gorg Blau . The joint reserve is 3,458 hm3, representing only 28.8% of their capacity. In December 2014, the water reached the 6,643 hm3, almost double, which accounted for 55.33% of capacity.
"The situation is worrying because there is a lack of rain in November and December but for now is manageable," explains the president of Emaya, Neus Truyols . Since Cort added that this shows that "the threat of climate change is real" but Truyols remarks that Palma is not "officially" in a situation of drought.
For its part, the director of the Government hídrics Resources, Juana Maria Garau , warns that start noticing "scarce resources" . Underground aquifers on the island are at 55%, although Garau cautions to start conscienciar the population of this situation which, if any, particularly affects water quality.
