Thrush Hunting season has begun :(

Kate it is probably someone shooting wild rabbits etc for the pot, this will no doubt become more common as a lot of locals really are very short of money. As i have said before on the forum, the benefit system here is nothing like in the UK so they will do what they have to do to feed their families.

Kate I have noticed this too. Our villa is in Gommar and the shooting seems to come from the hills. It seem the shooters are more active on a Sunday morning and yes it does seems to be at anytime of year.

Yep - have heard it in Llenaire too, definately sounds like from the hills and echoes around. I think you are right Kate, that it must be farmers on an early morning outing to keep something away!

Does anyone know of any restaurants in PP that serve thrush as I wouldnt mind giving it a go.

I'm pretty sure that they are a home cooked, rather than restaurant, dish.

The brother in law, who originates from Soller, is a keen hunter and will be after any birds he can pot, if he's on the island during the season. He also pots the, ahem, "wild" goats that are alleged not to belong to anyone. And rabbits of course.

I suppose we need to just accept that different countries have different ways of life and different attitudes.

Not much we can do really although it all seems somewhat primitive to me. la la la hand over ears again!

Hi, Re the shooting of thrushes, you'd have to be raven mad. However, i feel that some folk on here are tending to crow on about it. The over reaction should leave some feeling a bit of a tit. I will be keeping an eagle eye on this thread to see where it goes. When holidaying in pp i've heard walter pidgeon and george seagull are partial to some thrush. I must go now as i'm off to meet my friend robin.
