This weekend, the Port of Pollença becomes the setting for the first edition of the Mostra de la Tunaina , a new gastronomic event designed to highlight the value of local seafood. The activity, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Pollença City Council and the Fishermen's Guild, is part of the Sabors de la Badia cycle and combines cuisine, tradition and maritime culture.
For two days, visitors can enjoy an extensive program with tuna tastings, live cooking demonstrations ( showcookings ), pairings with local wines, musical performances, sports activities and even a demonstration of ronqueig , the traditional fish-cutting, which will culminate in the auction of the piece among the audience.
The kick-off was a conference dedicated to maritime fishing heritage, but it will be during Saturday and Sunday when the activity will be concentrated with the presence of the public and the possibility of tasting dishes made with tuna.
The exhibition was born with a vocation for continuity and emphasizes the importance of promoting local products and energizing the coastal center: "It is key to recognize the fishing tradition of the municipality and support the professional nautical training that takes place in our municipality."
With this exhibition, the Port of Pollença recovers and projects its maritime identity, while betting on the future through its gastronomic heritage.
