Has any one managed to finish this book? Im really struggling with it. Started off well but seem to get bogged down with a lot of facts written in not a very interesting way. Dont get me wrong, I love factual parts in books but ive managed to read 2 other books whilst still struggling through this!!:rolleyes

Belladonna!

I haven't read this book but my philosophy is this:

Life is too short to struggle with books that don't interest me! Reading is one of my greatest pleasures but if a book does nothing for me then I just close it up, put it down to experience and take it to the charity shop!

Jane:D

Know what you mean Jane, but it is all about Majorca and I really Really wanted to get through it, will take it with me in a couple of weeks and perhaps "unfortunately" forget to bring it back home!!:eek

know what you mean about the style

am eventually into it, & enjoying the tales of musicianship, & background to mallorcan life in a past era

not very flattering about pp, though!

Well done you! Have to admit I eventually gave up on this one, not proud of myself but it just seemed to far inbetween the bits that really got my attention. Perhaps Ill open the book again and look at the last page to find the ending!! LOL !X

Well I have finished it!
I admit that it there was parts that were a bit slow at least for someone like myself, for which English is not a native tongue.
Overall I found it interesting giving a background to what Mallorca is today.
I consider his earlier books “BREAD & OIL: Majorcan cultures last stand” and “A Home in Majorca. A practical guide to the traditional house and rural life” essential for anyone with a genuine interest in Mallorca.
